news from Aermacchi
Aermacchi offers life extension
Aermacchi is trying to convince Malaysia to extend the service lives of its MB339A trainers and to buy new MB339CDs rather than transition to a fleet of only BAE Systems Hawks.
As an incentive, the Italian manufacturer is offering Kuala Lumpur a free five-year service extension to its seven remaining MB339As, even if it subsequently rejects its MB339CD proposal. Aermacchi says the MB339As must undergo inspection within the next year and that some bushings must be replaced if they are to remain in service beyond the approaching 25-year point. The company is offering to inspect the fleet and replace some parts free of charge, as long as serious repair work is not required.
Aermacchi says it has already inspected two aircraft on a trial basis and found them to be in good enough condition to only require minor work to fly for another five years. 揂ll the technical information is in, |

one of the conditions requested by M'sia is for additional landing rights for MAS to fly to Rome for the purchase of the MB339CD.
This is one issue that MoF bungled. Had they been fast (instead of being bureaucratic), we would have gotten 17 MB339 from NZ...and at lower cost too. |

I think better acquire M346 rather than the MB-339s. If the need is too pressing, then lease the MB-339CD while waiting for the M346 to be offered. |

ofcz better choose M346 rather than the MB-339 but new M346 still need learn by TUDM...tis may take time to master it...since TUDM experience on MB-339A so the basic handling and understding about the jet is not a problem...
anyway let's wait and c...BAE new hawk also not bad but i personal prefer the Russian Yak-130 advanced & tactical jet trainer or MIG-AT although it hv a slower speed... jst get news tat one of the pilatus 7 had crashed...hopefully the new acquire pilatus 7 II(coming) will gv a new hope for Malaysia pilot... |

My take is that... as there are numerous manufacturers around looking for customers... we should have share the development cost of any one of those new trainers and put as many of our people in.. just look at EADS and UAE for example... it will be a great experience for Malaysian scientist and engineers and a big leap for Malaysia..

Aku Suka Aircraft nih.. Powerfull and can do lot of manouvers too. cantek jugak design dia. Dah try dah tapi dalam simulator jaa.. wakakakakaka
Analog system!!! ini Minachi MB339A beb. Sekarang dah CD. Anyway I don't think so la beb although they offer an extension of FOC 5 years service live. The offer just come to late as I seriously believe the RMAF has set for Hawk LIFT besides commonolity with existing fleets of Hawk's. |

But... you have to give to the Italians... they are so good at designing things that are sexy and curvaceous... unlike the British Hawks!! |

actually both got it bad & good...but for avoid any politic logistric problem...better choose both but Aermacchi MB-339 should be the 1st consider instate of BAE hawk...
i had read a Local DefenceMagazine Tempur(December issue) had say Royal British Air Force want British Defence Minister to test Aermacchi M-346 but Tony Blair wan it be Hawk later...it seem Royal British Air Force also feel Aermacchi hv a better jet |

M346 tu belum full production lagi. Buat masa ni keperluan TUDM utk trainer jet agak mendesak, option kredibel yg ada hanya 2 aja iaitu Macchi MB339CD dan Hawk AJT. Kedua2 jenis pesawat kalau dipilih tak menimbulkan banyak masalah kerana TUDM sedang mengoperasikan versi2 awal pesawat2 itu. Kalau nak ikut, Hawk TUDM yg terhempas sebanyak 5-6 biji berserta beberapa biji yg telah mengalami airframe fatique perlu diganti, so up to 12 AJT memang sahih diperlukan. Kalau nak ikut jugak, 17 ex NZ MBB339CD yg dah terlepas ke tangan orang perlu jugak dicari ganti, so, harap2 CD juga akan dibeli untuk memantapkan lagi skdn 339A sedia ada. |

Hawk? no comment. tapi bagi saya, cari lain la....

alot issue need to concern...in some case Aermacchi is less capable then Hawk..in term of speed, tactical and so on.... but i dun thk the speed a major factor since our MIG-29 pilit also train in the older Aermacchi last time... or mayb TUDM wan those pilot train in Aermacchi then later train in MIG-29UBT then onli come to SU-30MKM
mayb v choose Yak-130 where it got similiar wit Aermacchi M-346...but if choose Yak..TUDM need time to learn and master the jet b4 can train new pilot...i thk the YAK or M-346 or others latest Jet Trainner onli will be consider by TUDM in later 10th/11th MP since our budget in 9th MP abit less then previous.... |
