"Hang Liu" (汉丽宝) was the fifth wife of Malacca's Sultan Mansur Shah (reigning from 1456 to 1477). She was never recorded as a princess in the Chinese court Emperor Yongle of the Ming Dynasty in the Ming Chronicles.
According to Malay Annals (Sejarah Melayu), the sultan dispatched Tun Perpatih Putih as his envoy to Ming (China) and carried a letter to the Emperor, it was mentioned that Hang Liu was sent to Malacca to be the bride of the Sultan. Li Po came to Malacca along with 500 other female attendants, many attendants later married officials serving Mansur Shah as Li Po married the sultan after she accepted the conversion to Islam. After their marriage, the sultan built a palace for Li Po and her attendants were given a permanent home at Bukit Cina which serves as a cemetery for the local Chinese. Princess Li Po became known as Hang Li Po when she was awarded the honorific "Hang" by the sultan of Melaka. |

The well, the oldest in Melaka, was built in 1459 by the followers of Hang Li Po, the Chinese princess who married the Sultan of Melaka. In the olden days, the well never dried up and was the only source of water during the great droughts.
In 1511, the Javanese filled the well with poison, and many who drank from it died of the plague. Melaka had just fallen into the hands of Sultan Alauddin Shah of Johor, who teamed up with the sultans of Perak and Pahang, and the Queen of Java. According to the Portuguese historian, Diogo de Couto, many Portuguese soldiers died from drinking the water from the well.
In 1677, the Dutch enclosed it with solid brickwalls in a bid to maintain their rights to it. Later, it was turned into a wishing well, which it has remained until today. It is said that whoever throws coins into the well will return to Melaka time and again. |

kalau hang li po mcm ni ke takpe le jugak.. puas hati sultan melaka dpt..
walaupun besar kemungkinan hang li po bukan puteri maharaja china..
cuma dayang ajer .. di hantar utk cover puterinya sebenar..
kalau fikir logik , maharaja takkan sanggup hantar puteri ( anak dia ) ke oversea , punya le jauh mungkin tak balik2... so taknak kecikkan hati sultan melaka, hantar ajer dayang .. dgn gerombolan besaran2 nak tunjuk dia ni puteri raja jugak..

zaman skrg ni definasi .. kalau yg kurus , putih .. adalah cantik...
( tapi boleh di definasikan kurus tu malnutrison , anexrosia .. putih tu pucat , anaemic... )
pada zaman dulu2 tgk gambar ..semua aweks nye montok2 .. dgn baju kembang..patung dewi2 pun bertubuh montok berisi..
