San Marino 0-3 Czech Republic: Rosicky runs riot
SERRAVALLE, San Marino, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Goals by Tomas Rosicky, Marek Jankulovski and Jan Koller steered the Czech Republic to an easy 3-0 victory over 10-man San Marino in their Euro 2008 Group D qualifier on Saturday.
Having already beaten winless San Marino 7-0 at home in October, the Czechs came into the game looking for another goal feast.
Instead, their attack continued to sputter for most of the match as they scored two or more goals in a qualifier for the first time this year.
Rosicky provided the opener in the 32nd minute when Marek Kulic's weak shot was only parried by goalkeeper Aldo Simoncini and the Arsenal midfielder headed into an open goal.
San Marino's Alessandro Della Valle picked up his second yellow card in the 63rd minute, giving the Czechs even more room to operate.
AC Milan's Jankulovski blasted home a low drive from a free kick in the 75th minute to extend the lead before Koller headed home his 51st international goal in extra time. |

MUNICH, Oct 15 (Reuters) - Czech Republic secured a place at Euro 2008 when they thumped already-qualified Germany 3-0 in Group D on Wednesday.

Matejovsky gives the Czechs a 2-0 lead
Libor Sionko gave the Czechs a perfect start when he tapped the opening goal past Timo Hildebrand after just 112 seconds at the Allianz Arena.
Marek Matejovsky gave the visitors breathing space with a well-taken second in the 23rd minute and Jaroslav Plasil capped an outstanding display, individually and collectively, with the third in the 63rd minute.
Germany had become the first country to qualify for the finals in Austria and Switzerland with a draw in Ireland on Saturday and offered precious little in response.
The result left the two teams with 23 points from 10 games and ended the qualifying hopes of Ireland and Cyprus.
The Czechs had a lot more riding on the game than Germany and it showed in the home side's uncharacteristic carelessness, especially in the first half.
"We were asleep in defence and after you go 2-0 down it's hard," said full-back Marcell Jansen. "We didn't play well at all.
"But even if was a poor showing by us today, the qualifying was good and we can't let this one match get us down."
The early goal stemmed from a misplaced pass from Bastian Schweinsteiger, giving Plasil possession on the left.
His clever through ball beat the offside by a fraction and found Jan Koller all on his own, five metres from goal. The tall striker, who looked like he could hardly believe his luck, calmly played the ball back to Sionko to finish comfortably.
Germany, who beat the Czech Republic in the final of the 1996 European Championship, were missing captain Michael Ballack and striker Miroslav Klose through injury and they looked toothless as a result.
They had still not threatened Petr Cech's goal before they found themselves 2-0 down, via another soft goal.
Cech punted the ball forward, Koller headed it on and Matejovsky did well to fight his way past Torsten Frings and Christoph Metzelder before beating Hildebrand.
That finally provoked a German response and Kevin Kuranyi twice went close with point-blank headers.
As Germany pressed in the second half they left themselves open on the break and Plasil made them pay with the third goal, picking his spot from around 12 metres after Daniel Pudil's perfect cross had picked him out. |

PRAGUE, Nov 17 (Reuters) - Czech Republic, already assured a place at Euro 2008, defeated Slovakia 3-1 in their Group D qualifier on Saturday.
Zdenek Grygera opened the scoring in the 13th minute when his long-range shot curled past goalkeeper Kamil Contofalsky.
Marek Kulic, a 71st-minute substitute for Milan Baros, pounced for the second goal six minutes later when Contofalsky lost control of the ball as he fell to the ground.
The Slovaks rarely threatened before pulling one back in the 79th when Czech substitute Michal Kadlec deflected the ball into his own net.
Tomas Rosicky then restored the two-goal advantage for the Czechs with seven minutes to go. |

The Czechs finish with 29 points from 12 matches. |
