Datuk Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor
Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor
is an orthopedic surgeon, and
also a part-time model. He
was pursuing his Masters _
Surgery in Orthopaedic
Surgery at University Kebangsaan
Malaysia when he joined
the 'Angkasawan' program.
Sheikh Muszaphar and three
_her finalists were selected at
the beginning _ 2006 for the Malaysian Angkasawan
spaceflight program. _e selection proce_ was n_ an ea_
one.
All finalists had to complete a gruelling initial training at
Star City in Ru_ia, to which, only two were shortlisted to
undergo an_her 18 months _ training program in Ru_ia.
On September 17, 2007 Sheikh Muszaphar was finally chosen,
having pa_ed the final medical tests and training _aminations.
In October 12, 2007, Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar became
Malaysia’s first “Angkasawan”.
