Yup, MiG-29 is still a par with F-15, F-16 and F-18 old version...  Given with the hand of pro, MiG-29 is very dangerous enemy...

It's true, but many countries still must buy something from US in order to get a 'string' attached to the White House. In our case, US is our biggest investor. If they stop investing in Malaysia, say goodbye to Pepsi, Coca-Cola, KFC, McDonald, etc.

Yeah, although the Mig-29's a cold war jet the series of upgrades carried out by Malaysia will bring it to a par with at least the F-16 Block 30/40 in capability.

But there's one thing I still don't understand. Why upgrade your stuff if you're only going to deactivate it. Pardon my offense but it sounds kind of stupid.

For near future 1 or 2 years, I think not maybe take 5 to 10 years more of using MiG-29...

I think so. I heard somewhere that the RMAF is going to de-activate the Mig-29s after the MKMs come into service due to a (temporary) shortage of fighter pilots.
