Rooney to miss cup clash
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney looks set to miss the club's FA Cup fifth round tie with Derby at Pride Park on Sunday.
The 23-year-old still hasn't recovered from the hamstring injury he picked up against Wigan a month ago and has missed United's six games since.
Many expected the England international to return for the Premier League clash with West Ham last weekend but the forward failed to make the bench.
Now it has been confirmed that the club do not want to rush the former Everton star back.
ImportantUnited have some crunch games on the horizon, including the first leg of the last-16 tie with Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League on February 24th.
"We are still assessing Wayne," assistant manager Mike Phelan said.
"He has done a little bit of work but we are not going to rush that situation because we have important games.
"We will ease him back in as quickly as we can.
"If he is available terrific, if not we will look at the next game against Fulham because we would never jeopardise anything."

Venue: Pride Park Date: Sunday, 15 February Kick-off: 1630 GMT
Derby County will be without defender Jay McEveley who is serving a one-match ban after picking up five yellow cards.
Midfielder Stephen Pearson is expected to be among the substitutes as he continues his return to fitness following a knee injury.
Wayne Rooney is unlikely to play for Manchester United as he recovers from a hamstring injury.
But Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra and Jonny Evans are all set to return for the game at Pride Park.

"In a one-off cup tie, lightning can strike twice.
"That may be counter-balanced by their determination to put things right from the last time because they were below par that evening.
"I'm sure they won't want that to happen again, so we're going to have to produce something close to that, if not better in order to get a result."
Manchester United assistant manager Terry Phelan:
"We were a little bit surprised (at losing the first leg of the Carling Cup semi-final to Derby) but I don't think that will happen this time.
"We were fortunate that we had a second opportunity in that tie so we felt comfortable having the home tie.
"This time it's the FA Cup and it's a fantastic arena, a great crowd and a great atmosphere to play in. The players always rise to the occasion in those cases and we look forward to the game."
