Lagi satu, kalau tawaran BAE terima, macam boleh train pilot baru utk semua pesawat (30 biji) sedangkan hanya 8 biji CB-339 shj utk latihan? |

Hal training pilot aku serahkan kepada yg berwajib la kot.. I think,correction,I hope the RMAF dah start taking the necessary steps.Granted,training fighter pilots is not something to be taken lightly,but I think they have it covered,hopefully.Plus I don't think they will be taking in new blood to pilot the Typhoon(kalau beli la...big Q-mark tu),logically the current pool of experienced guys/gals will be absorbed to fly such a jet.New blood will then masuk the 'lower' fleet of jets.Tak gitu? Plus the Hawk108 kan ada,maybe BAe boleh 'hibah' a few more kalau kita beli Typhoon. |

Lebih kurang sama macam airline juga gripen in determining who suppose to fly what plane.. cuma beza sikit, upgrading tak automatic, its base on assessment and recommendation. Its almost certain now RMAF will be getting the Euro Fighter. The pioneers will be the instuctors and the new squadron executives selected from various fleet of the present fighter squadrons. After that, gradually all the MIG pilots will be absorbed and the rookies from the Hawk will be channeled either to F18, SU or the Typhoon..
How is the enhanced 330? I saw a few already flying around. |

Eurofighters might replace MiGs, says Zahid Hamidi

KOTA TINGGI, July 24 — Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) might replace its MiG aircrafts with the Eurofighter Typhoon multi-role combat aircraft (MRCA).
Minister of Defence Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the 10 Russian-made MiG-29s were nearing the end of their service period and the RM3 billion Eurofighter may fit the bill.
The ministry is evaluating it for capabilities and specifications, according to Bernama Online.
The minister said the Eurofighter while expensive was the best jet fighter. He was speaking after an Umno membership drive by Tenggara Umno today.
He did admit that the nation’s finances would help determine the likelihood of any purchase.
Also on the ministry’s radar are the Sukhoi SU-35, FA-18 Super Hornet and JAS Gripen, said Zahid Hamidi |

Wa percaya sekarang wayang politik ditayangkan. Wa percaya angka RM3 billion utk 1 biji sengaja taruh dlm paper (The star) utk dapat re-aksi "negative" dari masyarakat umum dan pihak pembangkang. Nanti mesti ada orang keluar kata, ini cuma
1) Planning sahaja. Keputusan belum muktamad.

The Defence Ministry has set up an evaluation team to look into the possibility of purchasing the Eurofighter Typhoon, the first choice on the list, as the third batch of multirole combat aircraft for the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF).
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the hefty price of the aircraft was a concern.
The development and production cost alone is estimated to be a whopping RM600 million per unit.
The aircraft, built by a consortium of three companies, EADS, Alenia Aeronautica and BAE Systems, through holding company Eurofighter GmbH, is being used by the air forces of Britain, Germany, Spain and Italy, among others.
Ahmad Zahid said the purchase, if approved, could affect the government's funding for other defence development programmes.
"The aircraft (Typhoon) is the best multirole aircraft there is. However, the hefty price tag is something of a concern, since the government is also focusing its allocations on other (defence) development programmes.
"We are looking into whether a deal, or packages in technology and skills training, can be included (in the purchase of the Typhoon). We want a deal that benefits us the most," he said yesterday at the Kota Tinggi Umno Carnival here.
The Typhoon is said to be highly agile and is tasked primarily in the air-superiority role with an additional air-to-ground capability. This flexibility gives the Typhoon a "swingrole" capability and makes it among the best frontline combat aircraft available.
It was reported that the RMAF required 18 new fighters to replace its existing assets.
It is learnt that more than 700 Typhoons are under contract and 280 have been delivered.
Ahmad Zahid said the government was also considering other multirole aircraft, such as those already in its inventory, namely the Sukhoi Su-30 MKM. Another contender is Sweden's JAS-39 Gripen.
On whether the move to study the purchase of new MRCA would serve as "cannon fodder" for the opposition, Ahmad Zahid said it was the government's responsibility to continue improving the nation's defence.
He sarcastically "congratulated" pro-opposition bloggers in particular for their detailed "background work" on the country's military purchases.
"Well done for the efforts to dig up details of the purchases. Maybe they want our defence to remain stagnant."

Agreed.. kat airline pun sama jugak,cuma less stringent,but they still look at records and past performance.Kalau no problems,kira jadi la promotion tu.Where I work,it's a bidding system.U bid for what fleet u wanna go to.Regarding the A330 Enhanced,I can't say much cuz I don't fly that aircraft.I'm a Boeing man,currently flying the 777.Dari apa yg dah dengar from friends about the new A330,nothing to shout about also la..
Back to topic,I think the Typhoon is still too expensive for our needs.The SuperHornet pun dah lebih dari cukup.Personal choice,of course the Gripen NG. |

Tambah 6 su30mkm enhanced menjadi 24 dan 30 tyfoon. Utk menyedapkan hati uncle, ambil 8 SH sbg tambahan kpd 8 D version. Dah ada 5 sqdn mrca. Maintain hawk sbg light mrca, cukup 6 sqdn spt yg dihajatkan. |
