Abhishek, Sherawat to sizzle in Guru!

Abhishek Bachchan finally got his wish fulfilled when Mani Ratnam signed Mallika Sherawat for an item number in his latest film Guru.

The entire song was shot in Turkey and very soon you'll be able to see the duo gyrating to a peppy dance number.

It has been a known fact that Bachchan junior has been longing to appear on-screen with the Sherawat for a long time now. During many interviews he has open-heartedly said that he is a fan of the beauty.

Reports say that Mallika and Abhishek got along very well while shooting for the song.

Amrita, Upen best buddies, not quite!

When it comes to Sabsey Favourite Kaun, Upen Patel certainly doesn't feature on Amrita Arora's list. The ex-lovers met at the Star TV's event and even refused to acknowledge each other.

Amrita had gone to the event with her Arbaaz Khan to give away the award to the most favourite newcomer actor, while Upen Patel had gone to give away the award for the most favourite newcomer actress.

After the show, Amrita and Arbaaz were waiting at the entrance to leave the venue when Upen also came there with another group, also about to leave.

When photographers asked Amrita to stand beside Upen and give a pose with him, she completely refused and walked towards her car and drove away.

Amrita is currently going out with English county cricketer Usman Afzal.

The promotional music video for Priyadarshan抯 upcoming film 'Chup Chup Ke' shot on Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor is currently on air and creating waves.
But not many know that the stylish music video has been directed by noted music video director Kuki Gulati and creatively supervised by noted adman Ken Ghosh, who had introduced Shahid in Ishq Vishk and directed Kareena in Fida.

The video number 'Aare Aare' by Himesh Reshammiya and Tulsi Kumar, was shot in a single schedule at Film City on a glossy white and silver underwater-kind-of-a set created by Omung Kumar. Omung swept most of the award functions this year for his exquisite artwork in Bhansali抯 Black. The video, currently on high airplay, is being used for promotional purposes.

The soundtrack of Chup Chup Ke releases this week on T-Series.

This superb actor is all the more euphoric, as out of the six categories Ek Ajnabee has been nominated in four categories. Tusshar Kapoor will be in the lead character in Ekta Kapoor's next to be directed by Neeraj Vora. This is a romantic comedy and Tusshar has offered to act in it, according to Vora. The shooting will start soon after the release of his movies -- 'Phir Hera Pheri' and 'Familywala'. However, he refutes the report that Ekta Kapoor has forced him to sign Tusshar for family consideration. " In fact, I wanted to rope in Tusshar in the movie." 'Familywala' starring Arjun Rampal, Diya Mirza and Paresh Rawal will release in August this year, Vora has added.

Fardeen's movie on AIDS

Fardeen Khan has been in Shillong (Meghalaya) to shoot a movie on AIDS and HIV prevention in the series of 'Haath Se Haath Mila'. He has met Haseena Kharbhih who has developed a program of tackling AIDS in Northeast. Fardeen considers Haseena the true hero of the movie. To a media query, Khan has said that he would marry even an HIV positive girl if he were in love with her.

Kareena Kapoor and Karan Johar who didn't gel well in the industry for quite some time have bought peace to work together. This is to recall that both had worked together in 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum' but had later developed unpleasantness between them, and had fallen out with each other. They had never been together since then. However, there is good news now that Kareena will be doing a movie under Karan Johar's banner. This has happened because of the intervention of Karan Johar's director Soham of the 'Kaal' fame. He has persuaded Karan Johar to sign Kareena Kapoor for his next as she fits the bill most. Kareena will be acting opposite John Abraham for the first time in this movie. We may also recall that Karan Johar had initially approached Kareena Kapoor for his 'Kutch Kutch Hota Hai', but she had said no at the last moment. As a result, Karan was upset and had approached Twinkle Khanna who also refused the offer. Then, Karan approached Rani Mukherjee for whom the movie proved to be a turning point in her career. The director is yet to sign Kareena after getting dates from John Abraham. The dates of both the actors need to match with each other's.

Respite for Salman , others

Film stars Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bhendre, Neelam and Tabu, facing trial for allegedly poaching blackbuck, have got some respite when a court dropped part of the charges against them. Partially allowing two revision petitions filed by the accused, the court of the additional district judge (ADJ), however, has said that the stars and another accused would face trial under sections of the Wildlife Protection Act. Charges have been dropped against Salman under section 27 of the Arms Act and section 148 of IPC for possession of arms with intent to use for an unlawful purpose. Charges framed against the other five accused under Sections 147 and 149 of IPC for being part of an unlawful assembly have also been dropped. The accused had filed revision petitions against the charges framed against them on February 27 in the court of the Judicial Magistrate in connection with the alleged poaching at Kankani in October 1998. Salman has already been convicted in two other poaching cases in Rajasthan and given two separate jail terms. He has filed appeals against both in a higher court.

Arjun Rampal has been lucky to be spotted by director Rituparno Ghosh for his 'Rahgir'. Ghosh has decided to sign him in the role of husband of 'Parineeta's heroine Vidya Balan. Ritu had earlier offered this role to Suneil Shetty. Arjun Rampal is also acting in Farhan Akhtar's 'Don' and Reema Katgi's 'Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd'. Rampal is very happy to be associated with Ghosh and says that he will not like to lose the Ghosh offer at any cost. He is also aware that the movie is likely to be a remake of Dev Anand's 'Guide', though Ritu has denied this. However, Ritu admits that the character played by Akshay Kumar in 'Rahgir' is similar to that of 'Guide' played by Dev Anand himself. There is no other similarity between 'Rahgir' and Dev's 'Guide', Ritu adds.

Actor Arshad Warsi is on cloud nine these days. He is too busy to spare time for his wife even. He skipped his birthday party this year as he was shooting abroad and the director-producer didn't oblige him even with a couple of days' leave. The actor arranged the party though but in his wife's name. The party proved a blessing inasmuch as it got him a film offer from director Rituparno Ghosh with Konkanasen Sharma of the 'Page 3' fame as his heroine in the movie. In spite of his preoccupation in several movies, the actor doesn't decline any new offer. This shows that he has turned completely commercial. This is to recall that his movies including 'Kabul Express', 'Anthony Kaun Hai' and ' 'Golmaal' are stated to be ready for release any time now.

WHO IS SHAMITA'S PARTNER?

Though the elder sister Shilpa Shetty is not yet zeroing on her life partner in spite of several rumors of her affairs, the younger Shamita Shetty isn't ready to wait any longer. She has found one. Yes, Shamita was first noticed in 2000 in Yash Chopra's super hit movie 'Mohabattein' starring Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, beside others like Uday Chopra, Jimmy Shergill, Jugal Hansraj, Kim Sharma and Preeti Jhingiani . Then, Shamita acted in 'Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai' where she did an item number (Sharaara Sharaara...) and drew the critics' attention.

Although she has done some more films after that but hasn't managed good appraisals in spite of remaining in the news. This time round she has hit headlines due to her growing relationship with Delhi-based businessman Sanjeev Nanda. She met with Sanjeev Nanda during a party in Delhi few days back. After that both are frequently seen moving together in restaurants, hotels and other functions. While talking about their relations Shamita says, " Sanjeev is my good friend like so many others and nothing else. Whenever I fall in love with any one I shall definitely announce it loudly." This is to recall that Sanjeev Nanda is grandson of Retd Admiral Nanda and the latter's son is a known arms dealer. Sanjeev Nanda was also involved in a hit-and-run BMW car case in Delhi though he was later acquitted.

Preity Zinta plays the role of a very ambitious magazine editor in the forthcoming film Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna .

That role is unlike anything that Preity has done in the past.

Preity has just finished shooting for the film, which additionally stars Amitabh Bachchan , Abhishek Bachchan , Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee .

The film has been largely been shot in the US.

Karan Johar and the star cast have so far been tight lipped about the film's storyline.

However, based on leaks it is believed it revolves around a budding romance between SRK and Rani who are married to different people.

When their feelings for each other surface in the open, lives of everyone involved are affected and things change forever.

Preity has stuck to her image of bubbly roles since her debut film, Dil Se but with Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, she hopes to change that.

Preity believes that her role of a very ambitious magazine editor in the film is unlike anything that she has done in the past.

The role has given her a chance to portray different aspects of being a woman.

In the past Preity has not shied away from unconventional roles having played an unwed mother in Kya Kehna! and Salaam Namaste and performed a negative role in Armaan .

Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna is scheduled for release in August 2006 but her fans will have to keep a watch on the date which has already been moved up from June 2006.

10. Ram Lakhan
This 1989 Subhash Ghai entertainer pitted Madhuri opposite Anil Kapoor, reinforcing one of the most enduring screen pairs to date.

She was the demure grocer's daughter; he, the corrupt cop with an agenda all his own.

A full-blooded masala superhit that's still great fun to watch.

9. Mrityudand
One of Madhuri's most critically-acclaimed performances came with this powerful 1997 Prakash Jha product.

In a dark and socially relevant film about women's rights, she infuses her character Phoolva with overwhelming vitality.

8. Khalnayak
The controversial Choli ke peechche song remains this 1993 Subhash Ghai film's highlight, but there was much more to it than that.

Starring opposite Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri played Ganga, a policewoman masquerading as a dancing girl in her attempt at entrapment. A gripping ride.

7. Devdas
It's safe to say that Dixit was the finest thing in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's excessive 2002 adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chatterjee's classic novel.

Miscast in a film starring Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai in the lead roles, she played Chandramukhi the courtesan with delicate fragility.

6. Pukar
This ambitious 2000 Raj Kumar Santoshi film, while flawed, was one of Madhuri's finest recent projects.

Starring opposite Anil Kapoor again, she played Anjali, a girl so hopelessly in love that she is driven to high treason. A compelling role, especially the negative parts.

5. Tezaab
Ah, the breakout film! This 1988 N Chandra movie brought Madhuri to the forefront, kicking things off for Bollywood's biggest female superstar.

Opposite Anil Kapoor, the duo never looked back and the crowd couldn't get enough of the bright-eyed Ek do teen girl.

4. Beta
Thanks to ace choreographer Saroj Khan, Madhuri's always had memorable songs. This 1992 Indra Kumar film featured the provocative smash, Dhak dhak karne laga.

A deceptively strong drama, Beta revolved around son Anil Kapoor's superstrong bond with mother Aruna Irani, a tie that choked Madhuri as his lover. Until she spurred him on to fight back.

3. Dil To Pagal Hai
In 1997 came a dream romantic project. No one directed a love story like Yash Chopra. No man was finer at it than Shah Rukh. In stepped Madhuri in this Shiamak Dawar-choreographed musical.

Chopra directed with restraint and finesse, and a highly polished script makes this a very watchable film. The chemistry between the lead actors is palpable, resulting in a product that made a whole new generation fall in love with Mads.

2. Dil
Indra Kumar's 1990 film is one of those that would be much more palatable if Madhuri wasn't wearing those ridiculous clothes.

Still, the story of young love serves as testament to the dazzling actress, as she constantly steals the show from co-star Aamir Khan, winning a well-deserved first Best Actress award in the process.

1. Hum Aapke Hain Kaun
The biggest film in Bollywood box office history, this one's a justifiably popular pick.

Sooraj Barjatya's 1994 slice-of-wedding-cake film starred Madhuri and Salman Khan as innocent and carefree kids who can't help falling in love.

Madhuri's Nisha was stunning, enthused, plucky and irresistible. The situation goes from heavenly to godforsaken, and while the end remains a stretch, the film broke new ground and changed Bollywood convention forever.

Though she is dating director Vikram Bhatt in reality, Amisha Patel brushes aside any such rumours. She does not want to make her private life public.

So, is Amisha's forthcoming film Ankahee based on Vikram Bhatt's ex-affair with glam siren Sushmita Sen? "I have no knowledge about it. All I know is that it's a story of a married doctor who falls in love with a beauty queen. I am playing the character of a married woman and I think lot of married women will identify themselves with this character," explains Amisha.

I DON'T CARE
Amisha also dismisses the allegations that she gets a project only because of her relationship with Vikram Bhatt. "If I get movie offers, people say I have an affair with Vikram. If I don't get his films, then they say we are going through a bad phase of affair. Now I don't give much ear to all this crap," she concludes.
