SHINEY MAD OVER SUSH
Shiney Abuja who acted in the recently released movie of Mahesh Bhatt titled 'Gangster' is mad over Sushmita Sen for the latter's vision as well as her talent, besides of course her enchanting beauty. Incidentally, Shiney is acting in director Tanuja Chandra's 'Zindaggi Rocks' opposite Sushmita Sen.
Which your latest movie?
My latest movie is director Tanuja Chandra's 'Zindaggi Rocks'.
Who else is there besides you?
I am very excited that I am acting opposite Sushmita Sen.
How do you find Sushmita in 'Zindaggi Rocks'?
She is a wonderful person; she is a visionary and a talented artist. Besides, she is an optimist and very energetic. I like her the most.
What about the title of the movie?
The title itself expresses music. In fact, the movie has turned my life musical. Earlier, it was titled 'Rocking' though.
What's your role in the movie?
I play the character of a heart specialist while Sushmita Sen plays a singer. The story is about the love between a heart specialist and a singer.
What about your recent release 'Gangster'?
Though I have already worked in many a movie, but 'Gangster' is my debut. This movie has provided me a place in the industry. So, I can demand a good fee from the producers.
How was your experience with its director?
Mahesh Bhatt has no match; he is a pioneer of a particular type in Indian cinema. I consider him as well as Sudhir Mishra my Godfathers in the industry.
What about others in 'Gangster'?
Yes, Emraan Hashmi and Kangna were nice too.
Sushmita Sen

Bips in 'Phir Hera Pheri'
Bipasha Basu will do a Bangla movie though after some time. She will certainly fulfill the wishes of her family and Bangla fans. Most probably, she will do the Bangla movie with her favorite director Rituparno Ghosh with whom she will start shooting for 'Draupadi' from next year. At present, Bipasha is busy in 'Phir Hera Pheri' starring its prequel 'Hera Pheri's three mascots - Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty, who have shown that their chemistry gels well. Hence, Bips clarifies that she cannot and will not outsmart this triangle. "I shall rather be a part of it."

Kajol's love for Dilli
Though many Bollywood stars of late have shown some liking for the city of Delhi, most of them still prefer Mumbai for shooting and post-production job. Kajol is the latest addition to the list of lovers of Delhi. Those who aspire for love like Delhi moren any other city. After all, Delhi is Dilwales'. Yes, politicians like Delhi, but stars are not far behind in this race for love for Delhi though for different reasons. Dilli and Dilliwalas welcome Kajol.

Malaika in mobile launch
Malaika Arora Khan's oomph attitude appeals to all, it seems. Fly, the European cellular phone brand, which just launched in India, are targeting consumers in the age group 18 to 35. However, they chose the slightly older but luscious Malaika Arora Khan as brand ambassador to launch their three Meridien mobile phones.

Kerala Tourism ropes in Big B, Aish
Kerala Tourism is gearing up to launch a fresh marketing campaign to cash in on the upcoming monsoon season. The board is on the verge of signing up superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Bollywood heartthrob Aishwarya Rai for the campaign. The plan is to produce two ad films, targeting two separate market segments. While Big B will promote "God's Own Country" in India, Rai will feature in an ayurveda tourism commercial targeted at the international audience. Though the stars are yet to sign a formal contract, Kerala Tourism officials have reportedly confirmed reaching a "verbal agreement". Bachchan is presently in the state, shooting for Ram Gopal Varma's film 'Nishabd'. The Kerala government has earmarked Rs 110 million annual ad budget for its tourism. Last year, Kerala Tourism had roped in ace Indian film director Santosh Shivan to direct its ad campaign.

My family is above everything, says Aishwarya
Is there a more family-oriented actor in Bollywood? Search, but you may probably not find anyone who gives her family so much attention as Aishwarya Rai does.
After Cannes, she could have gone straight to Chennai to join director Mani Ratnam's unit of 'Guru'. But she preferred to spend 24 hours with her family.
Tuesday was double-celebration time in the Rai household. It was not only the birthday of Aishwarya's mother but also her brother's marriage anniversary. It was an occasion that the actress couldn't afford to miss.
"Whatever little time I get from my work between schedules, I'd like to spend with my family," Aishwarya told IANS.
And after spending a day in Chennai, Aishwarya rushed back to Mumbai for the very special occasion.
"I always prioritise my family above everything and everyone else. When all seems lost it is the family that stands by you," she said.
Incidentally, Rani Mukherjee is another family-oriented Bollywood diva. She gave up the pleasure of representing her film 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna' at the 59th Cannes Film Festival with director Karan Johar for the joy of staying home with her newly-born nephew.

Life rocks for Preity Zinta!
The effervescent Preity Zinta is set to surprise fans with her cold woman act in Karan Johar's Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (KANK).
"I never like myself on screen. But I must say KANK has changed my look and my personality completely. I play this cold woman, which wasn't easy for a warm person like me to do. I have just a few expressions to give away. And I think I have done them well," Preity said in an interview.
She seems seriously possessed by Johar's passion. "I saw bits of the film recently at Karan's urging. What a film Karan has made! KANK is unlike anything we have seen before and certainly unlike anything I have done.
"Everyone is beyond outstanding. Mr Bachchan (Amitabh) and Shah Rukh (Khan) need no endorsement from poor me. Rani (Mukerji) is a rock star. But Abhishek (Bachchan) is going to shock you. His expressions, his interpretation of his character have to be seen to be believed. I truly believe Abhishek is the star of tomorrow."
Preity is now fed up of outdoor shoots and wants to spend some quality time at home. "Please find me a producer who makes a complete film in India. I am shooting abroad all the time!"
She was recently in Bangkok shooting a shampoo advertisement. Before that she completed a world tour with one of her favourite co-stars, Saif Ali Khan. She then rushed to Mumbai and after that flew to Cannes with buddy Johar.
"I was excited about Cannes because I was with one of my most entertaining friends who by the way knows French better than the French, so I didn't fear misinterpretation.
"I caught The Da Vinci Code there. But Karan and I were looking mainly at projecting our film Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna."
Once again she is going abroad to shoot Shaad Ali's Jhoom Baraabar Jhoom with Abhishek.
"Again to be shot abroad. Groan groan," she mock-protests. "We start the film in August and wrap it up by October. I guess it'd be released early next year. So I have three releases KANK, Shirish Kunder's Jaan-e-Man and then Jhoom Baraabar Jhoom in the next six months.
"Wow! And to think that I had only one release - Salaam Namaste - since Veer-Zaara. That's because I completely withdrew, stopped signing films and began to look at my life in a different way after the tsunami.
"Not many people know this. But I nearly lost my life in the tsunami. Some of my close friends lost their lives. For almost eight months, I stopped working. Hence the long gap between Veer-Zaara and Salaam Namaste.
Her brush with death forced her to re-evaluate her priorities.
"Tsunami made me question my own life and priorities. I decided if I can't be happy now I can never be happy. Not that I was ever unhappy. But the tsunami made me value what I have. I wrote down all the things that I had in life to be grateful about. And it was quite a long list!
"Today I have a rocking career, my mom is rocking too and my personal life couldn't get any better, touch wood. I can shop till I drop and I can visit any part of the world to work or to holiday.
"Earlier there would be a problem with Kareena (Kapoor) or whoever. I find all that totally unnecessary now. Now I like all my co-stars."
She lights up at the thought of working with Bobby Deol and Abhishek in Jhoom Baraabar Jhoom.
"That one is going to be an Aquarian special. All three of us are Aquarians. So it will be like three like-minded actors working together on a fun project.
"And what fun to work with two of my favourite co-stars. Though Bobby and I have done only one film, Soldier, together, we are truly fond of each other. He calls me Pritam Singh. As for Abhishek, he is one of the most cultured and funniest persons I have met. So yeah, we are going to have a ball."
More joy...Preity attended the Paris premiere of Veer-Zaara in the first week of May.
"I flew down to Paris from my concert in Dallas for just one day to be there. And thank god! I was there with Shah Rukh Khan, Rani and Yash (Chopra) uncle. Over 15,000 people watched the film in Paris, and we aren't talking about Indians and Asians. There were the French and other foreigners. And the way they responded to Veer-Zaara, it just made me think...
"Hindi cinema is becoming really hot in Europe. Two years since its release, and suddenly I was reminded in Paris of how important Veer-Zaara is. Amazing!"
She feels Johar's Kabha Alvida Naa Kehna and Kunder's Jaan-e-Man will take her career further.
"What's really exciting is that I get to play totally antithetical characters in these two films. So, this year my two releases are going to show what I can do as an actor."
Preity has never felt better. "The spoilsports can say whatever they want about my life and career. I couldn't have hoped for more. After Jhoom Baraabar... I am looking at three other scripts. I'll choose one of them."
As for marriage..."that topic isn't on my mind. Every time I am asked about my marriage I ask the journalist, why such a stale question. The way the media is interested in my marriage they should get together to fund my wedding."

What抯 brewing between Dino and Celina?
Actor Dino Morea admits to playing pranks on Celina Jaitley - his co-star in Tom Dick & Harry, like pouring vodka into her coffee and tying her down to a chair!
"I constantly played pranks on her. Once I put vodka into her coffee on the sets. But Celina took it well - no not the joke, the vodka. I mean she could really hold her drink," Dino confesses.
"Another time Celina was wearing this elaborate dress with lots of frills. I tied her dress to the chair. When she got up, the chair came with her," he added.
"Celina is a real fun girl. In fact, I have a great time with all my co-stars... I mean female. If there was an award for Mr Congeniality, I'd win pants down."
Talking about his other female co-star, Kim Sharma, he says: "Kim plays a fisherwoman. If we really had women like her selling fish, we'd become a nation of fish-eaters, I tell you."
If his rapport with Celina and Kim was terrific, Dino's bonding with the other male leads - Anuj Sawhney and Jimmy Shergill - was equally good. "All three of us are like bum chums on screen, no pun intended."
Asked about the falling fortunes of comedy, Dino said: "Honestly, we aren't bothered with the fate of Pyaare Mohan. We genuinely believe ours is a far better film.
"And why do you say comedies don't work? Didn't Kya Kool Hain Hum and Malaamal Weekly work? Tom Dick & Harry is my first comedy. And if I had so much fun working in it, audiences better have fun watching it."
He added: "And the music video Jhoom is a rage. This is my second chartbuster with Himesh Reshammiya after Jhalak dikhlaja in Aksar. Since Himesh is such a lucky mascot, I am sure his magic will work for us."

Kajol's smooth sailing back to B'wood

Ajay has no trouble handling Kajol's popularity
It is commonly said that men cannot cope with a successful spouse. So how does Ajay Devgan handle the constant media adulation that wife Kajol receives?
Many heroes may ignore the accomplishments of their actress-wives but not Ajay. "He truly loves Kajol and that is why he gives her enough space to be a star in her own right," said a source close to Ajay.
In Bollywood, most popular actresses are known to have played it safe by bidding adieu to glitz and glamour after tying the knot with co-stars. Be it the hugely popular Nargis or the immensely talented Jaya Bhaduri, they preferred domesticity to showbiz.
But for the last seven years, Kajol has been balancing her career and her personal life with ease. These days she is frequently spotted in glossies. Rated as one of the most talented actresses in Hindi filmdom, Kajol is hogging the limelight for her come back movie "Fanaa", releasing Friday. This is her first film after her daughter Nysa's birth.
Not just the film's plot, but Kajol's pairing with Aamir Khan too is the most discussed topic in filmdom. Everybody seems to be talking about it except Ajay. So is it jealousy that has sealed his lips?
"No, not at all. Ajay is not daunted by Kajol's popularity. He is a self-made man and does what he believes in. He also gets good offers from big banners but he gives preference to substantial roles than potboilers," the source added.
It is true that both of them belong to different schools of thought when it comes to selecting roles - Kajol prefers to be part of Yash Chopra and Karan Johar's typical masala flicks which are a sure-shot hit at the box office.
But Ajay, who has evolved as an actor in the last decade, gives preference to substance over saleability and has proved his mettle with "Zakhm", "Company", "GangaaJal", "Bhoot" and "Apaharan". The two National Awards prove that Ajay is a good performer in his own right.
If in professional life Ajay lets his work speak for himself, he keeps his personal life away from media glare. Initially gossipmongers tried to ruin their marriage with loose talk but he chose to ignore it and that helped.
"Ajay is a very private person and even in his day-to-day life he doesn't make any comments on his wife," informed the source.
There is another belief that men become worried and depressed if they have a successful partner and as a result their career flounders. But Ajay's career has flourished in leaps and bounds since he married Kajol.
In fact, "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam", which released after his marriage, marked a turning point in his career.
Ajay and Kajol's pairing might not have worked on the big screen but they are enjoying a successful marriage, a rarity in the showbiz. They are definitely setting an example for other actors.
"With people in the industry too, he enjoys long-term relationships. He takes his responsibilities very seriously and he does not believe in showing off," said the source.

Aamir and Kajol team up for an international concert
Looks like the combo star power of Aamir Khan and Kajol is doing its magic even before the release of Fanaa. Looking at their onscreen chemistry and hype about the film, some of the foreign promoters have signed the two up to do a series of stage shows in the US. The shows which begin in October will go on for a month.
It is said that the two have been paid big bucks to be a part of the concerts. Something which apparently made Aamir Khan change his decision which initially was no. Incidentally, even Ajay Devgan will be going for the concert but as a chief guest. He won抰 be performing on stage. Kajol is also planning to take her daughter along for the tour. So the whole concert will be more like an outing for the Devgans.

Tell me, are you Kajol or Kajal? Aamir Khan wants to know...
What happens when two of the most charismatic film stars in the country come face-to-face? Not just on celluloid but for a candid conversation.
So when Aamir Khan interviews Fanaa co-star Kajol there are some revelations: how he thought she was a brat and she thought he was too interfering. And lots of mutual back-patting and mwah mwah. In between the two actors also discuss their craft.
And yes, the answer to that question is that she is Kajol, not Kajal
慖 have to share a little trade secret with you, Aamir |

Rumours false, Aishwarya okay
On Thursday morning, out of nowhere, rumours started doing the rounds: Aishwariya Rai had a car accident in Germany last night and died because of a severe head injury. Fans and the media went into a tizzy.
In reality, Ash is doing fine.
"I don't know who is spreading these false rumours," says Hari Singh, the actress' business manager. "I have got several calls from national as well as international media about this but let me clarify that Aishwariya Rai is fine."
"At present, she is shooting for Mani Ratnam's Guru in Chennai," he adds.
After her visit to the Cannes film festival, Ash flew back to Mumbai on May 21 to attend her mother's birthday. Next day, she left for Chennai where she will be shooting for a month.
It may be recalled that about a decade ago, there were strong rumours that Shah Rukh Khan had been shot dead in Dubai.
"Why is such irresponsible news spread?" Singh wonders. "It is really shocking and disappointing."
