although we lost to russia last time, we can take heart of d way we played was almost perfect. whats left is to perfect it. now for the world cup 2010, a few of d older players have retired or will be retiring coz they're too old or to participate such as van der sar, ooijer, van nistelrooy n van bronckhorst..but there will be players to replace them.young ones, who will be ready n perfect age for the next world cup. ibrahim affelay, royston drenthe, ryan babel, huntelaar will surely be much2 better if they continue their current forms.

future dutchmasters:

-----------------------------------Marten Stekelenburg---------------------------------------

Khaled Boulahrouz----John Heitinga-------Joris Mathijsen------Royston Drenthe

------------------------------------------Nigel de Jong------------------------------------------
-----------------Rafael van der Vaart-------------Wesley Sneijder-----------------------
Robin van Persie-------------------------------------------------------------Arjen Robben
--------------------------------------Klaas jan Huntelaar---------------------------------------

weh, mane gi Kevin Hofland ha?? dulu cambest je....sekarang xde dapat selection pun...

Van Nistelrooy retires from international football

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/new ... cup2010&cc=4716

AMSTERDAM, Aug 4 (Reuters) - Netherlands striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has retired from international soccer to concentrate on his club career with Real Madrid, the Dutch Football Association (KNVB) said on Monday.

It said the 32-year-old had told coach Bert van Marwijk he would no longer be available for the Dutch team after deciding he could not perform to his best for club and country.

'After studying the schedule of Real Madrid and the Dutch team I realised ... playing for both teams would mean too tough a physical load for me and therefore I made this choice,' Van Nistelrooy was quoted as saying.

'I'm taking no chances and after the enjoyable Euro 2008 finals I can look back upon (my decision) with a good feeling.'

Van Nistelrooy won a total of 64 caps and scored 33 goals after making his international debut in 1998.

The former Manchester United striker missed Euro 2000 with a knee injury and the Dutch failed to qualify for the 2002 World Cup but he scored four goals at his first major tournament, the next European Championship finals in Portugal in 2004.

He scored once at the 2006 World Cup in Germany and twice at Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland where Netherlands were upset by Russia in the quarter-finals.

Van Nistelrooy's decision came as a surprise to Van Marwijk, who succeeded Marco van Basten as coach on July 1.

'I had a comprehensive conversation with Ruud and I can do nothing but respect his decision,' Van Marwijk said.

'I regret that I can't use his quality and experience when I compose my squad but I wish him all the best at Real Madrid.'

The Dutch play their first international, a friendly, under the new coach on Aug. 20 in Moscow against Dutchman Guus Hiddink's Russia.

Van Nistelrooy had a fractured relationship with Van Basten, who dropped the striker for the 2006 World Cup second round defeat by Portugal.

Van Basten then left Van Nistelrooy out of his initial squad for the Euro 2008 qualifiers but, forced by injuries, invited him back in October 2006, a call the striker refused.

However, in August 2007 Van Nistelrooy straightened things out with Van Basten and returned to score two goals in the qualifying campaign.

Before the Euro 2008 finals, Van Basten announced goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar and Van Nistelrooy were his two undisputed first-choice players.

Van der Sar retired from internationals after the tournament but Van Nistelrooy appeared at that stage to be in no doubt about continuing his Netherlands career, a decision he has reversed closer to the start of the new season.

Van Nistelrooy left United for Real in July 2006 for a transfer fee of

Dutch win in Iceland will seal World Cup place

up sket

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) - Mark van Bommel wants a double celebration Saturday when the Netherlands takes on Iceland - his 50th international appearance and sealing World Cup qualification.

But the Bayern Munich midfielder says Saturday's Group 9 qualifier in Reykjavik won't be easy.

"I remember that Iceland tied with Spain at home two years ago," he told Dutch broadcaster NOS, referring to a 2007 European Championship qualifier in Reykjavik when Andres Iniesta scored a late equalizer in a 1-1 draw.

With a perfect record of five wins from five matches and three qualifiers to go, the Netherlands is already on the verge of sealing a berth for next year's World Cup. A win in Iceland would be enough to ensure qualification.

After Iceland, "we have Norway at home and Scotland away so we want to qualify now - as early as possible," Van Bommel said.

The Netherlands already beat Iceland 2-0 in Rotterdam last year through goals by Joris Mathijsen and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk has almost a full-strength squad to choose from. Only midfielders Wesley Sneijder and Ibrahim Afellay are missing through injury.

That could give Sneijder's Real Madrid team mate Rafael van der Vaart a starting spot as an attacking midfielder.

After spending a lot of time on the substitutes' bench this season since his move from Hamburg, Van der Vaart has played more in Madrid's final matches of the Spanish season and Van Marwijk says it has helped his game.

"It makes a difference. You can see it on the training field," the coach said. "He looks keen and fresh. You can see he's played the last few games and has more rhythm."

Iceland is third in the five-team group with just four points from its five qualifiers so far.

Scotland, second with seven points from five games, has a faint chance of beating the Netherlands to the group's only automatic qualification place. Norway, currently bottom of the group, also could overhaul the Dutch if it wins all five of its remaining matches and the Dutch lose all three of theirs.

That doesn't seem likely. So far, the Netherlands has scored 12 goals and conceded just one as it has dominated the group.

But Iceland international Arnor Smarason told the official Dutch supporters' Web site the Netherlands should not take Saturday's hosts lightly, adding that the pressure is on Van Marwijk's team.

"Everybody in the Netherlands things they can just get the job done in Iceland, but of course it's not going to be that easy," he said. "We have a lot of respect for Oranje, a great football country with a great history. But don't underestimate us. Iceland is getting better and better and the gap with the top is getting smaller."
