La Liga preview
Valencia travel to Celta Vigo on Sunday, in the knowledge that an away win would see them leapfrog Barcelona at the top of the Primera Division, at least until Barcelona take on Sevilla later in the evening.
Coach Quique Sanchez Flores' side have made a highly impressive start to the season, their only competitive defeat so far coming against away on the unfamiliar artificial grass of Red Bull Salzburg in a Champions League qualifier.
But the 41-year-old warned his side against underestimating their opponents, stating:
"We can't forget that Celta were in the top five last season and that they have good players. They were the team that, alongside ourselves, conceded the fewest goals."
Celta have thus far failed to find the form that saw them qualify for the UEFA Cup via the league last season, and suffered a highly disappointing 2-0 defeat to Osasuna in their last match at Balaidos. Nevertheless, Flores was adamant his side "would have to be wary of a backlash."
Defender Angel Lopez has recovered from muscle soreness and is likely to start, while Valencia have doubts over defender Raul Albiol and top scorer David Villa. Both will undergo a late fitness test. |
