Point fingers at these hypocrite celebrities! 16 May, 2009 12:00 am ISTlINDIATIMES MOVIES
Elections in Mumbai saw quite a few B'wood bigwigs take out time from their busy schedule to cast their vote. However, there were quite a few celebs who in spite of being pretty active in asking people to vote, decided to give the V-Day (Voting Day) a miss. We bring you a list of a few hypocrite celebrities ' Jo Bolte Kuch Hai Aur Karte Kuch Hain '
Though her boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor played a responsible citizen, actress Deepika Padukone , who was a first time voter, forgot to vote.
Priyanka Chopra , the goddess of Bollywood who campaigned with other actors to make people vote in large numbers during the elections, did not bother to exercise her own Constitutional right!
Shahid Kapoor also didn't cast his vote despite the fact that he was in town. We really don't know the reason why, but considering Shahid's 'good friend' Priyanka Chopra was also missing, we can't help but wonder if they were upto something ' Chup Chup Ke '.
Kareena Kapoor was part of the special video created by Karan Johar and Tarun Mansukhani encouraging citizens to vote. But when D-day arrived, Bebo was nowhere in the picture. Her excuse: She was shooting for Karan Johar's production in the US and hence couldn't make it.
Bebo's boyfriend Saif Ali Khan was with his lady love in New York as a result both of them were absent from the Mumbai polling booths.
The Bong bombshell Bipasha Basu did not bother to caste her vote despite her beau John Abraham queuing up to exercise his right.
Shilpa Shetty decided to stay in South Africa to cheer her team, Rajasthan Royals. Interestingly, the actress may have decided to skip the voting season, but that did not stop her from advising others to exercise their franchise.
Preaching and practicing are two different things. Salman Khan , who actively participated in campaigning for major political parties, did not turn up to vote.
Preity Zinta was busy cheering her IPL team Kings XI in South Africa, so she decided to skip voting.
Akshay Kumar was among the other celebs who gave voting day a miss. The star was busy shooting for Priyadarshan's film ' De Dhana Dhan ' in Singapore. Akki when you can travel from ' Chandni Chowk to China ' you surely could have come down from Singapore to Mumbai and exercised your right as a responsible citizen.
"'Kites' is a story of love that goes beyond barriers, boundaries and cultures. With an internationally renowned crew and crisp story telling, we have attempted to create a film which we feel has a scope to reach wider world audience and set new benchmarks," said Hrithik.
Also present at the event was Hrithik's father Rakesh Roshan who has not only produced the film under his banner Filmkraft Productions but also written it.
"With each of our films we have tired to push the envelope with path breaking technique, storytelling and novel presentation. A film like 'Kites' has never been attempted in India before. This is our attempt to tap the mainstream international audience and we are hopeful that with an able partner like BIG Pictures, we will be able to meet this objective," said Rakesh Roshan.
The film is directed by Anurag Basu who carved a niche for himself with films like "Gangster - A Love Story" and "Life in a Metro".

panjang lebarnya senarai mereka yg tak turun mengundi...kesian...kerana mereka artis setiap tindak-tanduk mereka akan jadi perhatian....kalau mereka-mereka di atas mungkin sibuk dgn urusan masing-masing ....masih ramai di kalangan warga filem yg menggunakan hak mereka sebagai pengundi...
Hrithik Roshan is one such actor in Bollywood who has tried his hand in variety of roles and has also been successful in his effort. In Sanjay Leela Bhansali抯 'Guzaarish
Insider gossip from Karan Johar's party Wednesday, May 27, 2009 Karan Johar抯 37th birthday party at Hotel Four Seasons in Mumbai on May 25 is being called the bash of the year.
More A-listers were spotted here than one could keep tabs of, but some details have made there way out of the venue. Obviously, an insider has been doing the talking...
Guest list
Shah Rukh-Gauri, Abhishek-Aishwarya, Hrithik-Sussanne, Saif-Kareena, Karisma, Ranbir-Deepika, Imran-Avantika, Arjun Rampal-Mehr, Shahid Kapur, Rani, Farhan Akhtar, Tusshar, Sonam Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Vivek Oberoi, Lara Dutta, Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia and many more.
Notably missing
Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, John Abraham and Karan抯 good friend Kajol. Some were away from Mumbai, while others were down with flu.
Dress code
Karan asked men to be in formal suits. Most guests obliged, though a few like Hrithik went casual. Most women were in tiny dresses. Like on most occasions, birthday boy Karan wore black.
Highlights
* Karan dragged Abhishek to Shah Rukh and the two ended up chatting for sometime, with Ash looking on. So is it the end of Khan-Bachchan cold war?
* Kareena and Ash were seen chatting and dancing. Pleasant surprise considering after Abhishek and Karisma抯 engagement broke, Kareena had put a ban on all things Abhi.
* Riteish and Genelia came separately; Shahid and Vidya were seen leaving together.
* Shahid and Kareena made no effort to chat, while Ash made an effort and avoided Vivek Oberoi.
* Hrithik, Abhishek, Arjun and Farhan climbed on the bar counter and danced.
* The party ended in the wee hours of May 26.
Our regret
It was unfortunate that Karan, while being a gracious host to his colleagues, extended no hospitality to the media which had turned up to cover the event. Angry with the ill treatment, most photographers banned the party and you missed seeing the photos.
Kareena Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan patch up at KJo's party

Mumbai: Karan Johar's birthday party on Monday evening turned out to be an occasion for more than one grand reunion. KJo made sure that Abhishek and Kareena put aside their differences and became friends again.
Following the thawing between Abhi and Bebo, the camaraderie between Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor that evening didn't surprise anyone.
That extra zing
To see them laughing, giggling, whispering and behaving like two long-lost sahelis was something that did bring a smile to all the invitees' faces and added that extra zing to Karan's glamour-gorged party.
The highlight of the evening was Ash and Bebo taking to the dance floor. Finally, the long-standing cold war between the Bachchans and Kapoors that started when Abhi's relationship with Karisma's sister ended, came to an end. All ties had been severed between the Bachchans and Kapoors.
It was reported that Abhishek refused films with Kareena, prompting the emotional girl to react angrily and defiantly. She publicly snubbed Amitabh Bachchan at an award function last year. Very recently, through the subtle efforts of Aishwarya and Karan Johar from both ends, the two families began to dissolve their differences.
KJo's party on Monday evening did the trick. Now it's only a matter of time before Abhishek and Kareena finally come together again for a film after Refugee and Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon. Chances are KJo will design the project.
Brief encounters: Who's the ice maiden now?
Ash and Sonam too had a very brief chat. However there was no lets-be-friends vibe between them, even when they spoke to each other for a few minutes. It was very formal and although Ash was warm, Sonam's stance was aloof. A source reveals, "As soon as Ash spotted Sonam, she rushed to her side and gave her a warm hug. She complimented her on the outfit she was wearing and told her how much she loved her style sense." There was no talk about Sonam being dropped from Cannes at the last minute. Minutes into their conversation, Kapoor spotted someone, she excused herself and walked away.
