Woman fends off would-be rapists but loses her car
MIRI: A woman gave a good fight with her would-be rapists only to find out later that they drove away her car.
The woman in her 30s, said she was driving alone along Jalan Sukan at 3am yesterday when she noticed that a motorcycle was tailgating her.
She said she was on her way to a friend抯 house.
The motorcyclist then overtook her and then suddenly stopped in front of her near the Miri Indoor Stadium.
The rider and his pillion alighted from the motorcycle and walked towards the car.
They then forced her to open the door of her car.
One of them was carrying a stick.
Fearing for her safety, she opened the door only to be dragged out of her car while the man with the stick hit her on the cheek.
They then demanded that she handed over her valuables, to which she obliged.
The duo took her handbag containing two handphones, some personal documents and some cash.
After taking the items, they pushed her back into the car.
One of them pulled down her pants but the woman gave a good fight by kicking, punching and shouting at him.
She managed to free herself and ran to safety.
When she returned later, the car was not there anymore apparently driven away by one of the robbers.
A report was made at the central police station here at 11am yesterday.
Meanwhile, the police yesterday arrested a foreigner suspected of outraging the modesty of a 14-year-old girl in Pujut.
It is said that the girl had gone to stay with her relative in Pujut on Feb 8.
The suspect, who is known to her relatives and others living in the area, was said to be in the house when the girl arrived.
About 1.30pm of the same day the girl told her relative that she felt sleepy and went to a bedroom.
The man, in his 30s, followed her into the room where he started to grope her.
The girl抯 shout for help alerted her relatives, who immediately rushed over to her aid.
The man fled the scene before the girl抯 relatives could apprehend him.
At 11pm on Sunday, the girl抯 brother spotted the man in the area, apprehended him and handed him over to the police.
He is being detained for further investigation.
