09/04/2008 18:45 Uefa Cup Preview: Getafe - Bayern M黱chen What: UEFA Cup Quarter-Final Second Leg (1-1 agg.)
Who: Getafe (12th, Primera Divisi髇) vs. Bayern Munich (1st, Bundesliga)
When: Thursday 10 April 2008, 20:45 local
Where: Coliseum Alfonso P閞ez, Getafe
Referee: Massimo Busacca (Switzerland)
With the score balanced at 1-1 after a dramatic first leg in Bavaria, Bayern come to the Coliseum Alfonso P閞ez needing to score against a side that's defied the odds to be here...
Blue Heaven
Getafe's Cosmin Contra popped up deep into injury time at the Allianz-Arena to secure the equaliser for his side last week, but he of all people will know that the job is far from over.
The veteran Romanian is one of the few Geta players with more than a sprinkling of European experience, having been with fellow Spanish minnows Deportivo Alav閟 during their own path to the UEFA Cup final at the start of the decade.
That run ended with defeat to Liverpool, of course, but because Geta can think of their own final adventure they must negotiate past the German giants here.
A 0-0 draw with Barcelona at Camp Nou on Sunday put them in good stead for what may be a backs-to-the-wall performance, but it may be a goal that's required to well and truly seal their passage to the next round, and in doing so prove to Europe that they are no small-town rubes.
Coach Michael Laudrup, himself no stranger to the continental game, has been linked with a move away from the clu b
German Giants Have Much To Lose
Bayern will feel aggrieved by the first-leg scoreline, given that they had numerous chances over the course of the match and dominated possession, but in the end some late defensive sloppiness cost them dear.
Thus the German giants, who some in the Spanish press criticised as being too dismissive of the Azulones ahead of the first leg, will come to Getafe in no doubt as to the capabilities of their hosts.
The time for complacency has well and truly passed for Ottmar Hitzfeld's men, who, despite having a commanding lead at the top of the Bundesliga, may deem their season a partial failure should they fail to advance further in the UEFA Cup.
Of course not being in the Champions League is something of a culture shock for them, but that's no excuse for bowing out at this stage. Can star power see them through?

TEAM NEWS
Getafe CF
Centre-back Cata D韆z remains sidelined, although left-sided stopper Lucas Licht is back from suspension. He is replaced in the sin-bin by midfielder Esteban Granero. Mario Alvarez added to his side's defensive woes after picking up what looked to be a nasty knock against Barcelona on Sunday, while Pablo Hern醤dez is also out injured.
Pato Abbondanzieri may start ahead of Osky Ustari in goal for what really is a crucial encounter, which Uche and Alb韓 may partner up-front in an attempt to hit on the break.
Probable XI: Abbondanzieri; Contra, Belenguer, Tena, Licht; Mario Cotelo, De la Red, Casquero, Gavil醤; Uche, Alb韓.
FC Bayern M黱chen
Daniel Van Buyten is out of action, with Breno taking the Belgian's place in the squad of 18. Long-term absentee Hamit Altintop also misses out, but Mark Van Bommel, who missed the first leg due to illness, is already fighting fit. He, like Luca Toni, is one game off suspension.
Bayern need to score in this game, so coach Hitzfeld will most likely deploy an attacking formation as usual. Podolski could make way for Klose up front in what would be a fairly significant change.
Probable XI: Kahn; Lell, Lucio, Demichelis, Lahm; Schweinsteiger/Ottl, Van Bommel, Z |

Rummenigge Rules Out Lahm Exit
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has stressed that full back Philipp Lahm will be staying at the Allianz Arena until at least 2009 regardless of how the current contract negotiations go.
German international Lahm is currently in the midst of contract negotiations with the Bavarians over an extension to his current deal, but Rummenigge has rule out Lahm leaving the club before 2009 even if the talks break down.
揑t is certain he will remain here until the end of his contract with us, even if it should not be extended" said Rummenigge.
Bayern Munich have sought to inject some urgency into the contract negotiations with the full back with Spanish giants Barcelona interested in Lahm.
揥e have held productive, open and fair talks |

UEFA Cup - Dramatic Toni late show stuns Getafe Eurosport - Thu, 10 Apr 23:05:00 2008
FavouritesBayern Munich scraped through to the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup aftera dramatic extra-time away goals win over Getafe.
Getafe played all but six minutes of the game with 10 men butlooked to be heading for a famous victory, only for Bayern to twicecome back from the dead -- first to force the game into extra time andthen to snatch a last-gasp equaliser to level the match 3-3.
MidfielderCosmin Contra put Getafe ahead with a virtuoso solo goal just beforehalf-time, but just as the home fans were celebrating a memorable upsetBayern midfielder Franck Ribery equalised in the 88th minute.
Getafewent for broke at the start of extra time and goals from midfielderFrancisco Casquero and substitute Braulio put them 3-1 up within threeminutes.
But striker Luca Tonipulled a goal back for Bayern late on in the second period and struckagain at the death to end Getafe's dreams and secure his side asemi-final showdown against Zenit St Petersburg.
The game atthe Coliseo got off to a frantic start with Bayern almost going aheadinside the first minute when Toni had a close-range shot cleared offthe line.
Five minutes later Getafe suffered a major setbackwhen influential defender Ruben De la Red was sent off for bringingdown Bayern striker Miroslav Klose as he bore down on goal.
Getafe were dealt another blow when Nigeria striker Ikechukwu Uche pulled a hamstring as he tried to chase a long kick up field and was replaced by centre-back David Belenguer.
Theyweathered the storm, however, and took a shock lead just before thebreak when Contra picked the ball up on the halfway line, cut inbetween two defenders and then lashed a fierce shot high into the net.
VisitingBayern fans reacted violently to the goal by tearing up seats at oneend of the stadium before they were quelled by the police.
Getafe should have extended their lead midway through the second half when substitute Braulio sprinted clear and rounded Oliver Kahn only to slip over on the wet turf as he lined up his shot.
Theyhad several more chances to extend their lead late in the second halfand paid the price when Ribery snapped home just over a minute fromtime to force extra time.
Instead of wilting in the face of the disappointment, Getafe piled forward into attack at the start of extra time.
Casquerorestored the home side's lead with a wonderful strike from the edge ofthe area and Braulio hit a third almost straight from the restart.
But Bayern were thrown a lifeline five minutes from the end when Getafe keeper Roberto Abbondanzieri dropped a Mark van Bommel cross at the feet of Toni and the Italian striker fired in from close range.
Withtime running out keeper Kahn piled forward into the opposition area, disrupted the Getafe defence as he got a touch on the ball and Toniheaded in to earn his side a remarkable comeback win.
