Brother Radzi calls on Nizar for 30 minutes
IPOH: Former Perak menteri besar Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin and his eldest brother Mohd Radzi Jamaluddin met for a "heart-to-heart" talk here yesterday.

Radzi, 58, an Umno member from Penang, met Nizar at 10am at the official residence of the menteri besar where the brothers spoke for about 30 minutes.
Radzi stressed that both he and Nizar had always maintained a close bond and that despite their political differences, "family always came first".
"I met him without an agenda. I was concerned and wanted to see how he was holding up, as we (Radzi and his family) had heard rumours that he was having a stand off with the police.
"I was relieved to find it was not true. Nizar even joked that the police were placed there for his safety," said Radzi, adding that he never once told Nizar to concede to the sultan's orders during their meeting.
He said that throughout their meeting, he did very little talking as he wanted to hear Nizar's side of the story.
According to Radzi, Nizar appeared cheerful and positive throughout, adding that the moment they saw each other, they hit it off like old times.
"Nizar told me what had happened at his (Nizar's) meeting with the sultan last Thursday. Nizar explained to me that he wasn't being disloyal to the Sultan and how he had the highest respect for the monarchy.
"Nizar does not blame the sultan for what has happened in Perak, but told me that as the menteri besar, he has the right to appeal against the appointment of the new Barisan Nasional government," said Radzi.
"He (Nizar) also told me that he was very upset and disappointed with the way BN took over power in Perak."
Nizar also told Radzi that he was willing to move out of the official residence any time and was holding on not because he was "power-crazy" but on the principle that he was the "legitimate menteri besar elected by the people".
Radzi also said that he had often visited Nizar at the residence in the past and yesterday's trip was partly motivated by their mother's concern over Nizar as well.
Asked how their mother felt about Nizar's situation, Radzi said: "She sympathises with Nizar and prays that God's will be done". |
