Tambi Jiee, 49, from Kampung Gobielt, was with his wife Ariza Ghazalee, 47, and four children - Mohd Afif, 19, Mohd Afzal, 17, Marsha Azmeena, 15, and Mohd Afruz, 13, while on the way back from Kazakhstan transiting via Amsterdam. The Kuching family was returning home for good from Kazakhstan, where Tambi had been working for about three years as a Shell employee.

KOTA BARU, July 20:

Mohd Ali Salim, one of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 victims, was regarded as a potential national icon, said his former lecturer.

Universiti Sains Malaysia Neuroscience Research and Service Centre director Prof Dr Jafri Malin Abdullah said his former student was a future lecturer in the field of Neuropsychopathology Development.

“I feel we have lost a potential scientist who could have helped Malaysians.

“He had another six months to go before completing his studies at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

“He was a student whom I cared very much for after having known him for the past five years. He was very smart in tackling his studies in a very exacting field,” he told reporters here.

He said Mohd Ali was a a visionary, who was diligent and dedicated, as well as willing to help the younger undergraduates in the field he was pursuing.

The couple delivered Kaela through unassisted home birth.Visiting with relatives Sunday, her mother, Kanniamah Jaya, 63, proudly showed cellphone videos of her granddaughter."Kaela spoke four languages: Dutch, English, Malay and Tamil," the grandmother said, tears welling in her eyes.
"She loved singing Tamil songs."The girl called her grandfather, Jeyaratnam Karuppiah, 64, "datuk," a Malay word for grandfather.

Pro-Russian Separatists Hand Over The MH17 Black Boxes To Malaysia

The black boxes from Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 are now in the hands of a Malaysia government delegation.

Self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Alexander Borodai, kept his word and handed over the MH17 black boxes to members of the Malaysia government early Tuesday morning in East Ukraine.

During the presentation of the black boxes — which had been delayed for nearly three hours — Borodai reiterated his claim that the Ukrainian government, not the rebel group, is responsible for the downing of MH17.
It was a direct appeal to the separatist leader from Malaysia’s prime minister that convinced him to hand over the flight recorders.

The separatists also appear to be transferring the remains of the MH17 victims as agreed upon in the deal brokered by the Malaysian PM.
