Breaking News: Lee Soo Man is Resigning?
Yes, it’s been confirmed by a close source to Lee Soo Man and SM Entertainment that the C.E.O and founder of one of South Korea’s most popular private entertainment companies will be resigning.
SM Entertainment is responsible for megastars across Asia including: BoA, Shinhwa, H.O.T., S.E.S., SNSD, DBSK, Super Junior, f(x), CSJH the Grace, TRAX, Isak n JiYeon, Lee Yeonhee, Jang Ri In (Zhang LiYin), and more. SM Entertainment also trained entertainers that are now working for other companies before their debut.
Lee Soo Man, left his own band in the 70’s, Sand Pebbles, and founded SM Entertainment on February 14, 1995. After years of success, he is retiring from his position and selling off his shares, however, keeping 28.3% of SM Entertainment stocks. No confirmation yet as to what his future plans are after resigning and who will be resuming his position.
It is also unknown as how immediate it will be, but soon SM Entertainment will be managed by a new President and ties with Avex Entertainment in Japan will be terminated. Avex Entertainment manages BoA, DBSK (known as Tohoshinki in Japan), Ahyoome, and CSJH (known as Tenjochiki in Japan)- all of which are major contributors to both Avex and SM Entertainment’s sales. One can only imagine how this will affect the company’s stocks as Avex is the largest company in Japan’s music industry.
No word yet on SM’s fate in other countries like China and the United States where SM Entertainment and Lee Soo Man also conduct business.
However, rest assured fans, representatives of this matter have stated that SM Entertainment will be making a smooth transition to whoever they’re passing the torch to. SM Entertainment will stay remain a strong, popular entertainment producing one of the best idol among kpop.
