CH Carolina Herrera launched its Spring/Summer 2016 collection at the Suria KLCC store last week. The season’s styles saw bright colours of red, yellow, blue, and green dominate the racks, while their classic polka dot dresses also caught our eye. Accessories-wise, the Baret bag was the star of the day.
Earlier that day, we sat down for a chat with Fazura Sharifuddin, who was the celebrity guest presenter of the collection. The local Malaysian actress, singer and producer wore a beautiful CH Carolina Herrera polka dot dress for the occasion paired with a blue Baret bag.
LifestyleAsia (LSA): Do you have a style icon?
Fazura Sharifuddin (FS): I actually love Kate Blanchett. I think she’s just a goddess – so beautiful, so effortless chic; when I look at her, I don’t know if someone like her could ever exist again. Her style pretty much is similar to Carolina Herrera; effortlessly chic and very elegant.
LSA: How would you describe your personal style?
FS: Well, I don’t want to say effortlessly chic! [laughs] In my own three words, I would say – chic, simple, and fabulous. I can just wear like jeans and a really nice white shirt which is a signature of the brand, and I like colours and prints too.
LSA: Do you prefer to be more dressy or laidback, clothes-wise?
FS: If I had choice, I would want to be laidback the whole time but I know that’s not an option all the time because I do have to attend events so I gotta be a little more presentable a little bit more dressy. But that’s the best part about the brand, like this dress [gestures to herself] you see it from afar it’s so simple, but when you wear it, it’s actually very dressy, in a simple understated way.
LSA: Do you have a male style icon?
FS: Johnny Depp is very, you know scruffy and all that, but you know at the same time, you look at him and you’re like, “You are SO stylo,” – so stylish, good-looking, and dashing and all that and I think that’s the type of guy I like. When you don’t try so hard, but at the same time you know you can pull it off. It’s very effortless, very chill, but at the same time it’s like, “Mmm hello, do you want my number, or could I get your number?”
LSA: You are so busy with your TV show and everything else. What keeps you going?
FS: What keeps me going is passion pretty much I think. Just getting up to work, just being alive, and knowing that you have a purpose in life. Everyday when I wake up I’m very grateful to be alive and know that I’m in this world for a purpose, just to make people smile in my work, in my movies or in any of the commercials that I do or anything really. Just taking pictures with me too, I guess, if that makes them happy that’s the purpose that keeps me going.
LSA: What do you do for fun?
FS: I love watching movies, doing some research you know, I enjoy storytelling and just getting inspired from storylines or actors. I love to read although it makes me sleepy sometimes, but I still do and I think it’s important for all of us to take time to read. And I love to eat. Food makes me really happy.
LSA: If you were stuck on an island and could only choose one food to have, what would it be?
FS: That, would be the toughest question anyone could ever ask me. I will not be able to answer that because I love food so much!
LSA: Ok, top three foods then.
FS: Ok, well my top three would be nasi goreng with salted fish and petai – I can eat that everyday. Another thing is lemon, I can’t live without lemon because that is essential for everything – to kill germs, for detox. Water, I guess? Green tea! I would pick hot Japanese green tea.
