DCT does theme for "One Piece" movie
Wed, November 14, 2007 (5:23pm EST)

Popular duo DREAMS COME TRUE will sing the theme song of the new "One Piece" movie, it was learned on Wednesday.
Due out in March, "One Piece: Episode of Chopper Plus" is the ninth film in the popular franchise. It includes new characters and scenes not seen in the original story.
As a fan of DCT, mangaka Eiichiro Oda asked them to provide a song. The two musicians, also fans of "One Piece," accepted the offer.
The song, titled "Mata ne," is written by DCT member Miwa Yoshida. Because the movie opens in March, she wrote the lyrics with the school graduation season in mind. According to a suggestion from Oda, the song's chorus includes children singing.
"Mata ne" appears on DCT's new album "AND I LOVE YOU," which goes on sale December 12.

ZARD memorial concert to go on tour
Thu, November 15, 2007 (5:02pm EST)

Next year, ZARD fans who missed the memorial concerts in Tokyo and Osaka in September will get a second chance to attend. A concert tour has been announced, with 15 performances scheduled across the country.
Three memorial concerts for the late vocalist Izumi Sakai were held at the Nippon Budokan and the Osaka Festival Hall in September. The shows featured large monitors displaying footage of Sakai singing while a group of musicians played live on stage.
Fans who were unable to attend flooded Sakai's management with requests for additional shows. As a result, a tour will begin on January 19 at the Kobe International House and will travel to 12 other venues for a total of 15 performances.
Like the previous concerts, the tour will feature previously unseen footage of Sakai. However, the group of live musicians and the song list will be different. Something special is said to be in store for the tour's final show at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium on May 27, which is Sakai's death anniversary.
December 12 has been set as the release date for her single, "Glorious Mind," which was recorded in June 2006 while she was battling her cancer. The promotional video for the song includes unreleased footage of her during a trip to San Francisco.

"Ultra Music Power," the first single by new Johnny's unit Hey! Say! JUMP, sold 247,000 copies this past week, putting it at the top of the singles chart. On the albums chart, fellow Johnny's group KinKi Kids also claimed the #1 spot, selling 190,000 copies of their new album "Phi." With this, 12 of their 13 albums (including their 3 best albums) have been chart-toppers.
Meanwhile, voice actress Nana Mizuki's album "GREAT ACTIVITY" came in at #2 with 43,000 copies sold. This is the highest sales ranking ever for an album released by a seiyu. news: movie

Most people outside Japan know Matsuyama Kenichi as the enigmatic genius L in the "Death Note" movies. Well, prepare for a whole new "MatsuKen"! The 22-year-old actor will take on the role of vocalist in a death metal band in the movie adaptation of gag manga "Detroit Metal City". Written by Wakasugi Kiminori, it has run in the comic "Young Animal" since 2005. Matsuyama will play Negishi Souichi, who leaves his family's farm in Oita Prefecture for the bright lights of Tokyo. There he swaps his taste in Swedish pop for the totally out-of-character death metal, taking on the role of vocalist in the trio Death Metal City and adopting the name Johannes Krauser II. The story arc leads up to a climactic showdown with the hell-raising American kings of black metal, Jack ill Dark (whose signature tune is "******ham Palace"!). Matsuyama is currently learning the guitar and "death voice" stylings to pull off the performance. Filming is scheduled to start at the end of February. The movie is expected to feature cameos from prominent musicians, though no names have been announced.
