John Abraham: Pig-headed!  

Actor John Abraham抯 love for animals is well known. He has been PETA抯 brand ambassador for quite some time now. And he does his bit in making the world a better place for animals. Only recently John saw how pigs were being slaughtered in Goa. Some tourists had captured the process on their digicams. A very upset John wrote to the CM of Goa asking him to do something about this torturous deed. We hear that PETA authorities had sent a request to senior people earlier, too, but nothing came of it. Hopefully the starry appeal to the CM might just make the difference!

Raveena is back in shape!  

After Kajol, the other actress who seems to have regained her original shape and size after marriage is our mast mast girl Raveena. Though after marriage and post her pregnancy, Ravs had put on some extra kilos, she has successfully managed to knock off those flabby chubby chunks and is looking as stunning as she was in her hey days. She抯 also raring to go. But she says she has no immediate plans to get to the acting since her baby is very young. But one thing is for sure - there will be plenty of offers when she decides on her comeback, we say so!

Riya, Sohail out of Vikram抯 film!

Harry Baweja抯 yet-to-be-titled film that has recently gone on floors has had its shares of fall-outs. The flick that was first to be directed by Hansal Mehta is now being directed by Vikram Bhatt. When we got in touch with Hansal, he told us, 揧es, I was to do the film first, but eventually, Harry and I parted ways amicably. He is a businessman first and probably thought that I was incapable of contributing much to the film from the 慶ommercial

Manisha Koirala: Thank god, good directors didn't forget me

Manisha Koirala, who is now busy working for Bengali filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh's "Khela", is thankful that good directors did not forget her despite a nearly two-year-long sabbatical.

Manisha, who took time off after doing some 60 odd films in various Indian languages, including Bollywood flicks, is one of the few mainstream film stars to have ventured into non-Hindi movies.

"I was bored with the roles offered to me and was waiting for the right offer all this while. I started shooting again in August. Thank god, good directors did not forget me while I was away!" she said.

Akbar Khan's "Taj Mahal: A Love Story" would be the first release in months for the actress.

"I utilised the time to do things I wanted to do apart from acting. I learnt moviemaking and indulged in other activities. I even made a short film at New York University," Manisha, who has been associated with films for almost two decades, told IANS in an interview.  

So, is she now equipped to make a full-length movie? "Not really. I will need to attend a few more classes to learn more about other streams of filmmaking like, say, camerawork," she explained.

Talking about "Khela" that is still being shot, Manisha said, "It is a very sensitive film. It is about a woman whose filmmaker husband gets busy with his work and she feels unwanted."

"I adore the way Ritu gets into a woman's head, portrays her and her complexities."

The actress who made waves in the south with superhits like Mani Ratnam's "Bombay"(1994) and Sankar's "Mudhalvan" (1999) said Ghosh was open to contributions from everybody.

"I don't know whether it is the Bengali film industry or Ritu's movie - everybody, including the clap-boy, tries to be creative. Ritu himself has said that a film is made by everyone involved and not just the director."

"Compared to that, someone like Mani Ratnam is stricter in terms of contributions. Everything goes according to Mani's vision of the movie."

Manisha also has Ram Gopal Varma's "Darwaza Bandh Rakhna" and "Shiv". She will feature in "Tulsi" with Irrfan Khan and a few untitled films.

She has joined the southern Indian production house G.V. Films Ltd as a member of the board of directors.

"As a member of the G.V. Films' board of directors I will be sharing the same responsibility as other directors. I will also be providing inputs from my own experience in the field in the past 20 years," she said.

Manisha herself ventured into production with "Paisa Vasool" (2004) that bombed at the box office.

"I take full responsibility for the film's debacle. I could have perhaps marketed the movie better," she said.

Sanjay sings in film

SANJAY Dutt and John Abraham will be singing on the soundtrack of director Sanjay Gupta's latest flick Zinda (Alive).

Gupta, 37, told The Hindustan Times that while his film would have no song and dance items, he wanted to have a soundtrack.

He added: 'Rocking good music is something my films are associated with, so I couldn't give it a miss in Zinda.

'It has been a tremendous experience creating the music for a thriller. However, the tracks have not been incorporated into the film.'

Sanjay will be singing Kabhi Muskurana (Sometimes Smile), which he co-wrote with the music directors.

In extravagant praise of Sanjay's singing abilities, Gupta compared his ''attitude and style' to music icon Bob Dylan.

He said: 'We had extensive discussions over the style of arrangement and orchestra that can cater to the needs of his voice.'

This is the third time Sanjay has attempted to sing for Gupta's films, his previous two outings being the soundtracks of Kaante (Thorns) and Musafir (Traveller).

Said Sanjay: 'It's like a tradition... I have lived up to my practice yet again with Zinda.'

John, on the other hand, will rap on another track Yeh Hai Meri Kahaani (This Is My Story).

Gupta gushed: 'He's done an awesome job and I'm very happy with the way the song has turned out.'

The album will also have a club version, with Indian DJ Nikhil Chinappa working with a team of musicians from London remixing and reproducing some of the tracks.

The album will also kick off the promotional campaign for the film, which will hit cinemas next January.

Chop talk raises ire

DID Akshay Kumar 'chop off' some of co-star John Abraham's scenes in their new film Garam Masala?

The talk is that Akshay, 38, threatened by John's rising star, apparently did so.

Not so, said director Priyadarshan.

He told the Indo-Asian News Service: 'Am I some idiot to let one of my actors make my film for me?

'This is nothing but a figment of a troublesome journalist's imagination. It may be some people's idea of publicity, not mine. I've been around for too long to let actors dictate me.

'Akshay never showed the slightest inclination to invade John's territory. In fact, I've been in touch with John. Not once has he expressed any grievance against Akshay. So who are these people spreading these rumours?'

It's family first for Kajol

KAJOL fans should not be celebrating her return to Bollywood too much.

The 30-year-old actress is making her first comeback film, Fanaah (Desire), with Aamir Khan, which is directed by Kunal Kohli.

She told MusicIndiaOnline that while she loves making films, family comes first.

'I'm back again to films for I love acting and can't stay away from it. But I'm not going to opt for acting as my full-time career like before. I'll just do a movie in a year. I would like to devote more time to my family. Ajay and my daughter are my priority,' she said.

Fanaah is currently being shot in Delhi around the city's historical monuments.

Kajol has not signed on to do any other movies yet.

She has been busy with advertisements and jewellery endorsements.

An insider said: 'Everyone decided this (decision) was best for the movie.'

Oscar expert Tom O'Neill is sure Clooney, 44, is a good bet for Syriana, saying: 'It helps that the role looks like classic Oscar bait, calling upon the handsome star to uglify himself by donning a scruffy beard and packing on 13.5kg.'

Eminem Says He's Back With Ex-Wife




  
DETROIT (AP) -- Rap superstar Eminem told a radio show Tuesday that he is back together with his ex-wife and may remarry. Eminem went through an ugly divorce and custody battle over his young daughter with Kimberly Mathers. They married in 1999, and their divorce was finalized in 2001.

"We have reconciled and are probably going to remarry," Eminem told Detroit radio station WKQI-FM's "Mojo in the Morning" show.

During the interview, he referred to Kimberly Mathers, 30, as "my wife Kim."

Eminem's label Interscope Records said the interview was the only one that Eminem had planned for now. The rapper's greatest-hits album titled "Curtain Call" was released Tuesday.

   





  
Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, also discussed his stay earlier this year at a hospital to undergo treatment for sleep medication dependency. Word of the hospitalization came in August after he canceled his European tour.

"When I went into rehab, I kind of went into it ... with the notion of 'I'm gonna get clean, I'm gonna get off this stuff before it gets too out of hand,'" he said.

In July, Eminem denied an impending retirement but hinted at taking a breather. On Tuesday, the 33-year-old, who lives in suburban Detroit, spoke more about his uncertain future.

"I'm at a point in my life right now where I feel like I don't know where my career is going," he said. "This is the reason that we called it 'Curtain Call,' because this could be the final thing. We don't know."

John turns hottest

John Abraham has turned the hottest hero these days. This is due to his flexibility in playing different characters in his different films and without being typecast in any single image. John and his girlfriend Bipasha have learnt this lesson from their past bitter experiences of sticking to a particular image. John began his career in modeling and then took up small roles in movies, but he earned name in 'Jism' though its success was snatched away by the heroine - Bipasha -- for her dare bare sexy image. However, John shot to fame in 'Dhoom' in spite of his negative role in the movie. He was soon picked up by Priyadarshan for his recently released 'Garam Masala' for a comic role. Now, John's success has impressed Karan Johar to sign him for his 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' and Ravi Chopra in his 'Babul'. Luckily, despite his all round success, John hasn't got air yet and remained cool.

John Abraham hospitalised

Model-turned-Bollywood actor John Abraham was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in suburban Bandra, Mumbai.

Superstar Amitabh Bachchan, who underwent a successful surgery for 'diverticulitis' of the small intestine on November 30, is recuperating in the same hospital.

"Abraham, aged 32, was admitted to the hospital last night with fever. Investigations will be carried out," said hospital spokesperson and vice president Narendra Trivedi.

Abraham was suffering from viral fever and bronchitis from mid-November, when he went for a shoot in Kabul for his film Kabul Express, Bollywood sources said. The sources added that since he was not well, he came back and was being treated. He was to return to Kabut for a month-long shoot for the film in December.

The film's team, stationed in Kabul, has been provided tight security after the killing of an Indian, Maniappan Raman Kutty, in Afghanistan last month. The film is directed by Kabir Khan, a documentary filmmaker who has considerable experience of filming in Afghanistan.

Kabul Express, a thriller, tells the story of a 48-hour long car drive in Afghanistan. Abraham plays the role of a television director.

SANJAY: I AM ZINDA LIKE MY MOVIE

The India International Film Festival witnessed the premiere of director Sanjay Gupta's forthcoming 'Zinda'. Singer Shivani Kashyap and Pakistani band "Strings" performed on the soundtrack, but Sanjay Dutt stole the show by singing "Yeh Hai Meri Kahani'. Contrary to reports that Sanjay is lying low, we witnessed him in full spirit and heard him say, "Like my movie, I am Zinda (fine and kicking).All that happens in my life doesn't affect me. My movies inspire me." In a light mood, he said that if he flopped as an actor in future, he would try his luck by shifting to singing. Regarding 'Zinda' Sanjay added that it was the most difficult and taxing movie for him. Earlier, Prakash Jha's 'Apaharan' held a world premiere of the movie with its lead cast Ajay Devgan and Bipasha Basu besides Jha being present. Ajay Devgan was overwhelmed with emotions and said that the movie's background is very important for him as it deals with the problem of not only Bihar but the whole the country. Producer Jha boldly declared that a filmmaker couldn't afford to ignore his responsibility to society even if the movie evoked protests from some quarters.

The authorities of the 36th India International Film Festival held at Goa claimed that they had kept a balance this year by inviting Mithun Chakravarthy of Hindi and Bangla movies representing the north and Malayalam cinema's Mamoothy of the south as chief guests at the concluding ceremony since legendary Dev Anand represented Hindi movies and Telugu star Chiranjivi from the south, were the chief guests of honor at the festival's inauguration.

Unaffected by what happens in my life, says Sanjay Dutt

In his first high-profile outing after Abu Salem and the Mumbai bomb blast cases hit headlines again, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt said everything was fine. 憫I抦 fine. All these stories of me being cut off or lying low are baseless.拻

The actor was in Goa for the concluding ceremony of the 36th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) Goa, 2005, where music of his forthcoming film, Zinda, was launched. 憫Like my movie, I抦 Zinda. All that happens in my life doesn抰 affect me. My movies inspire me to carry on.拻

Dutt is moving on. Come next year and he plans to revive his late father Sunil Dutt抯 Ajanta Arts banner. 憫My best buddy Sanjay Gupta mentioned this to me when Dutt saab passed away. I think this is the right thing and the right time to do it,拻 he said. Dutt is not taking his responsibilities as a family man lightly. About sister Priya, who is now an MP, he said, 憫As an elder brother, I抦 always there to help her, but she抯 good on her own. I just want her to do good work like dad.拻

Casually attired in jeans and white shirt, Dutt was in an amiable mood. He joked about his latest singing effort in Zinda, the evocatively titled song, Ab Ho Jaaye Jo Ho Jaaye Khada Hoon Seena Taan Ke. 憫I抦 making sure that if I flop as an actor, I抣l get work as a singer,拻 he said. Asked to hum a few lines from the song, he said, 憫Agar main gaana gaonga toh aapko paisa dena padega (If I sing a song, you抣l have to give me money).拻

Dutt also gave his plan for a fit body like his. 憫Gym, right food and women,拻 he said. However the gags stopped when he spoke about his role in Zinda. 憫It抯 probably the most difficult and taxing film of my career. After shooting for a month in Bangkok, I slept for a week because I was so emotionally exhausted,拻 he said.

Salem, Sanjay to appear in court

Underworld don Abu Salem is likely to rub shoulders with actor Sanjay Dutt in the designated Tada court on Friday when judge P D Kode will read out the charges framed against Salem in the serial blasts case of March 1993.

Dutt will be among the 123 blasts accused who have been asked to remain present in court on December 9.

The actor is among the 87 accused on bail while the rest have been in judicial custody at Arthur Road since 1993.

It will be the first time that Salem will get to see all the co-accused in the case in which he is accused of conspiring with them to create terror in the city.
