‘Usah gusar’

- AFP

City sedia rampas status pendahulu

2012/03/24

– AFP

Maradona: I told Tevez he should go back to Manchester City

The Argentine returned to action on Wednesday after ending his feud with Roberto Mancini and his former national team coach says he played a part in his comeback

By Tom McKeown

Argentina legend Diego Maradona claims he told Carlos Tevez to go back to Manchester City and make up with manager Roberto Mancini.

Tevez returned for City from the bench on Wednesday night against Chelsea, setting up the winning goal as the hosts came from behind to win 2-1.

The former captain hadn’t played for City for six months, after he reportedly refused to play in a Champions League match against Bayern Munich in September, and Maradona says he persuaded Tevez to return to Manchester.

“I told Tevez three months ago that he had to talk with Mancini as soon as possible,” he told the Sun.

“I said that because he was losing money – but also because he needed to play football again.

“I told Tevez, ‘you must go back now’.”

Wednesday’s victory against Chelsea moved City to within a point of league leaders Manchester United.

Aguero rubbishes Real move talk
March 24, 2012

By ESPN staff

Sergio Aguero has rubbished suggestions he is trying to engineer a move to Real Madrid, with the forward insisting he is happy at Manchester City.

City boss Roberto Mancini used some of the huge wealth at his disposal to bring Aguero to Eastlands from Atletico Madrid last summer and the £35 million has proved money well spent, as the Argentine has made a seamless transition to life in England.

It has been suggested Real are plotting a move for Aguero, amid suggestions he has become unsettled, but the player has insisted the reports are without foundation.

"None of the stories about Real Madrid have come from me and the City fans can rest assured I am happy here," Aguero is quoted as saying in the Sun.

"First and foremost, the major aim is to win the league title this season. Then I want to stay here for a long time after that.

"I'm very, very happy here. From the moment I arrived, everyone has treated me really well. It's down to me to repay that kindness and good feeling I've had from everyone with some performances out on the field."

SILVA PLAYING AT 80 PER CENT DUE TO ANKLE TROUBLES

Manchester City star David Silva has lit up the Premier League this season but the Spanish magician is fighting through the pain barrier as we enter the final nine games of the campaign.

The Sweeper can today reveal the real extent of Silva’s daily battle with ankle injuries that he has been carrying since mid-January, which has coincided with a dip in his personal form as City hit their first rocky patch of the season.

The Spaniard, 26, has a long-term problem with his left ankle, but both are causing him soreness, and the club’s desire to nurse him through until the end of the season has seen him substituted in his last three appearances.

The ideal scenario for Silva would be for him to rest for two weeks, but manager Roberto Mancini feels that he cannot afford to give the former Valencia man time off as City challenge for a first top flight title in 44 years.

The midfielder’s problems are not helped but his refusal to wear ankle strapping like most players as he says that it restricts his feel for the ball.

"Silva is playing at 80 per cent because of his ankle trouble, it’s been causing him discomfort for a while now," a City source told Goal.com.

"He doesn’t need an operation, it’s a case of pain management to nurse him through until the end of the season."
