Tevez set for first start in six months against Sunderland - report

Carlos Tevez is set to make his first start for Manchester City in six months against Sunderland, according to The Daily Mirror.
The Argentine striker has made two substitute appearances since returning to the first team after a prolonged unauthorised absence back in his native country.
Games against Chelsea and Stoke City have shown that the former Manchester United man is ready to get a full game under his belt and, with Sergio Aguero’s fitness uncertain for the game against the Black Cats, it is thought that Roberto Mancini is building a team around the 28-year-old for Saturday’s match.
With rivals Manchester United pushing their lead at the top of the Premier League to four points after narrowly beating Fulham 1-0 at Old Trafford on Monday, the Italian boss is looking to every outlet possible to claw back the deficit with just eight games remaining.
Tevez inspired a comeback against Roberto Di Matteo’s Blues last Wednesday, assisting Samir Nasri’s winner and creating more chances in his short stay on the pitch than any other player, but struggled to repeat such heroics at the weekend as City slumped to a 1-1 draw with the Potters.
Assistant boss David Platt insists that the club cannot afford to drop any more points, especially with the upcoming Manchester derby on April 30 possibly being the match that wins the title for either side. |

Dortmund targeting Dzeko as Man City run rule over Gotze

Edin Dzeko is a summer target for Borussia Dortmund following Manchester City's decision to sell the striker after only one-and-a-half seasons in English football.
Arsenal talisman Robin van Persie and Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain figure prominently on City's list of possible replacements for Dzeko.

But they have also been watching Dortmund's top scorer Robert Lewandowski and midfielder Mario Gotze, who signed a contract extension yesterday.

Mario Balotelli: Pleased to see old friends after wandering into Inter press conference
Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli gatecrashed an Inter Milan news conference on Tuesday afternoon as new manager Andrea Stramaccioni was being presented to the media.
Stramaccioni has been promoted from youth team coach on a temporary basis following Claudio Ranieri's sacking, and he knows Balotelli from the 21-year-old's time at the club.
To much amusement, Balotelli walked into the room as Stramaccioni addressed the media and shook his hand and those of other people at the top table before leaving.
Balotelli later explained that he had decided to pay a visit to Inter to see old friends and congratulate Stramaccioni because he had been given a couple of days off by Roberto Mancini along with the rest of the Man City squad.
Strong
"I was pleased to see my old team-mates again," he told the Inter Channel. "I saw almost everyone, it was a great feeling.
"I wish Stramaccioni and the team all the best."
Balotelli is due back in training on Wednesday and he is excited about the challenge of trying to help City become Premier League champions.
Manchester United have recently moved in front of them in the title race but Balotelli remains confident of finishing first.
"I hope to win it. We are very strong," he said. "We have taken a small step back, but we can make the grade." |
