Berbatov Rejected Chelsea And City
New Manchester United signing Dimitar Berbatov has revealed his reasons for signing for the club and suggested that he could have joined Manchester City or Chelsea.
“I don't play for the money,” said the striker before adding, “If I want to play for the money, I will accept the Manchester City offer or Chelsea.”
Manchester City had an offer for the striker accepted by Tottenham yesterday however Berbatov admitted his mind had been made up and that he had not been tempted by the Sky Blues.
“Those who know me; my really close friends, know that I play for enjoyment and to entertain the fans,” explained Berbatov before continuing, “But the red shirt is a really big thing for me. I want to play for the biggest club in the world. That is why I am here.”
“Now I am here and hopefully I will play my part in the team and we can win lots of trophies as well,” said Berbatov, “Trophies are an important thing in football and I want to help this team win more.” |

United Will Welcome Campbell Back
Manchester United Chief Executive David Gill has hailed Fraizer Campbell who has moved to Tottenham on a season long loan and revealed the club’s reluctance to let him go.
The striker will spend a season at White Hart Lane as part of the deal which saw Dimitar Berbatov move to Old Trafford. However, speaking to MUTV Gill admitted the club had not wanted to let him go.
“We clearly rate Fraizer and he's a well sought-after young striker,” said the chief executive before adding, “We believe, and Alex believes, that he has a great future.” |
