Semenyih Crash: Black Box Data Did Not Reveal Why The Helicopter Exploded Mid-Air

The black box of the helicopter which crashed in Semenyih was retrieved in good condition. However, it did not reveal why the aircraft exploded in mid-air, reports the New Straits Times (NST).

The flight data recorder was sent to UK’s Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) for analysis.

Quoting from anonymous sources in the investigation team, UK investigators could not retrieve much data and will now focus on the reconstruction of the helicopter instead.

“The results of the data downloaded from the flight data recorder, also known as black box, were not conclusive.

“It did not specify any indications or reasons as to why the helicopter had exploded in mid-air during the flight. However, the team hopes that the combination of both black box data and reconstruction of the wreckage would provide answers to what had happened that fateful evening on April 4,” according to the source.

The incident at 4.55pm, killed all six people on board, including Rompin Member of Parliament Tan Sri Jamaluddin Jarjis, his bodyguard Razakan Seran, the Prime Minister’s principal private secretary, Datuk Seri Azlin Alias, businessman Datuk Tan Huat Seang, pilot Clifford William Fournier, and his companion Aidana Baizieva.
