Sneijder: I'm Staying With Madrid
Real Madrid and Netherlands midfielder Wesley Sneijder has resoundingly refuted rumours of him leaving the club, which he feels is the best in the world...
The Dutch midfielder's scintillating start to Euro 2008 coupled with rumours of a swap deal for Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo saw Sneijder linked with a move to Old Trafford, but he insists he will not be leaving the club - intimating he would only do so to go back to his hometown club, Ajax - and added he will not tolerate suggestions that he is leaving the club.
"When I left Ajax, the team of my life, I only wanted to go to Madrid, which is the best club in the world," declared the 24-year-old.
"Now that I'm here, the only thing I wish for is success, winning many titles and to be here as long as possible to defend this shirt and this shield.
"I will not consider, nor accept anyone else suggesting, that I am going to leave Madrid."

When Real Madrid set their hearts on an acquisition they play hardball with both the player and his agent. It is the path Los Merengues have trampled many times. Like the Canadian Mounties - they almost always get their man.
It started as far back as Alfredo di Stefano's  protracted move to Barcelona in 1953. The man who went on to symbolise the very greatness which is now attracting Cristiano Ronaldo to Real signed for the Catalan club and played for them before Madrid stepped in, complained to Franco's government and pinched the player.Franco ordered Real and Barca to share the little Argentine genius year-about, but long before the end of the first season Di Stefano refused to change clubs and that was that.
Cut to 2000 and the shock waves of Luis Figo's move to the Bernabeu. Like Ronaldo who, on April 15 told Spanish football magazine Don Balon: "I'm sick and tired of telling people that I'm completely happy at Manchester United," Figo kissed the badge of the Catalan club as a gesture of undying loyalty about a month before moving to the Nou Camp.
Zinedine Zidane was tempted and convinced behind the backs of Juventus, who swore they would never sell. Their defence crumbled when two things happened:Zidane announced that "I've reached the end of my cycle at Juve," and added that his wife wished to move further south in Mediterranean Europe. That was that.
There were heated demonstrations outside Inter Milan's offices when it became clear that Brazilian striker Ronaldo's public insistence that he wanted to leave for Madrid had worn down the resistance of owner Massimo Moratti.
The tactic is always the same: divide and rule. But when David Beckham left for Madrid the difference from this summer's drama is that the manager wanted to sell.
