Official: Baptista Joins Roma
Roma have officially announced the signing of Julio Baptista from Real Madrid.
“Roma will pay Real Madrid €9m in three instalments, the first will be paid when the certificate for the transfer is released by the Spanish FA, the second on July 31, 2009 and the third by December 25, 2009.
“Furthermore, Roma will also pay Real Madrid €1m if the club qualifies for Champions League football while the player is here for a maximum of two seasons, therefore it will be €2m.
“The player has also signed a four year contract.”
Baptista’s addition to the side is a victory for the club, given that they came so close to losing him to other teams that were interested.
The club have also confirmed the player will earn €4.5m per season, meaning they have broken the previous salary cap of €2.5m. |
